First I will say it is around 15 degrees here with a -5 wind chill.  The winds are about 20-30 miles per hour.  I am driving home and see a huge Red Tailed Hawk about 100 feet in the air.  His wings were spread wide and was just hovering like a kite in the wind.  As I watched a beam of sunlight came through the clouds.  Man, I wish I could have gotten a photo of that as it was just a majestic image.  Then I was thinking of how damn cold it was and did not affect him in the least.  I was thinking how these guy's feathers really are such great insulators.

That sounds like a great pic opportunity.  Bummer.  It is wierd how they can withstand cold temps, I often think that with the little snowbirds and such, like how is that possible that you don't freeze to death. dknow
