I have had this tree in my bird room for over a year now and it always seemed boring to me, of course the birds love it. So, I got a drill press from my hubby for Valentines Day and this is what the tree looks like now, and this is only the beginning...

Love the bone in the first pic, and the second pic.....don't disturb!  looks like (Syd?) is posing for that portrait on the wall!!!!!   :D

My hubby made a box for it, it is screwed to the bottom of the box and then he made wooden bracers that hug the tree at the base and it screwed to the box. Here is a better pic of the base of the tree.

Thanks Arty, that is my boy Sydney, whom I got from Barb. He can be a bit abbrasive sometimes, but he is my baby and I love him to death. :D

I've seen people use X-mas tree stands as base holders for playstands like that, which I thought was interesting.
