the other day i visited a store to just look as i periodically check in on these stores in wichita... this time was way different this store had soooooo seriously declined.  it was borderline bad before...this time it was awful.  9 suns in 3 cages, mixed with 2 peach fronts.  cages are approximately 1.5x1.5x1.5 foot too.  They had 17 budgies in one, and just one in another.  they ahd over a dozen diamond doves in one.  slews of parrotlets in another.  one gcc by himself. and 3 baby hand feeding suns in a small box not even a foot by a foot with NOTHING in there but a rag.  and the one cage had a sun and peach front in one together and the sun was missing alot of his feathers across the top of his head, around his eyes, and looked real mangy.  I told the person in charge that one of their suns was really sick and missing feathers and their only response was... which one?  i said the one without f'ing feathers.  No new ones growing in and poor shaft conditions on most... had me seriously suspecting pbfd :(

and that was just the birds.  there was 20+ hedgehogs in a cage, a yellow tang that looked like it shoulda been dead, and tons of puppies in small cages.  i grabbed andy and we left.  we are NEVER going back there.  i think it must have changed hands.

Seriously though...I called animal control, I told the mall security...No one CARES anymore! It broke my HEART to see the birds in that condition, just to find out, no one cares.

I hate to say I told you so.....its hard enough to get help for mammels, but when you trade the fur for feathers, its so so bad. How about writing to your local paper? Do they do "human interest" stuff? I tried and it didn't work here, but worth a last try I guess.

“My brother and sister birds, you should praise your Creator and always love him: He gave you feathers for clothes, wings to fly and all other things that you need. It is God who made you noble among all creatures, making your home in thin, pure air. Without sowing or reaping, you receive God’s guidance and protection.”

Me and Misty will go double-team their scrawny butts. She'll get them high and I'll get them low.  tickedoff.gif
