I do believe that it was the angle of the photo, look at the size of the mans hand on the birds body - it's HUGE! maybe photo shopped?

the perspective of the camera is what is causing this. Palms do have big beaks in relation to their body size, but not that extreme

Whoever took that photo either didn't get the effect they were striving for or they are one very bad photographer. The photo exaggerated in that way does not compliment the beauty of the palm cockatoos in any sense of the word.
