i dont know why i bother to click on these links. they just upset me. there's nothing i can do. i cant fix it. i cant change it. i cant punish the guilty. and i have trouble living with the knowledge. if me knowing could help some animal somewhere, i'd gladly bear the burden. but it doesnt it doesnt change a damn thing.  cry

I knew that about you toezie...debz walks over to her friend and gives her a fuzzy hug. You are the one that doesnt even watch regular news. *gently smacks friend upside the head* what the hell were you thinkin'? That's why I stopped opening up those links a long time ago. I feel the same way you do, Toez. Someone called me "preferring to live in ignorance..." That person and her followers were morons and probably still are to this day because what she never wanted to understand was I knew that all of that evil existed, I just chose to not get crushed by the brutality that the images brought.  So yes, humanity is ugly. and because of it why dont we go back to putting disclaimers on graphic *bleep*, so we can choose to open stuff like this or not. sound good?  confused

sorry debz & tozie.  hugu

Sometimes there is something that can be done. The two recent links I posted the bail was set quite high for a cruelty case.  I like to think it has something to do with every day people getting so upset that they write their congress representatives and senators to get states to go after people who abuse animals, or at least get their city representatives involved in changing local laws.

These things need to be known and posted.  If every bad thing was hidden nobody would know and less would be done to the guilty and awareness would be lacking.

Right D, but I see both sides, we can put a warning that a post contains violence/cruelty so that those of us who get so upset it hurts our soul won't read it.

thank you deb  hugu  but i know better than to click on 'em. especially right before bed. i was up til bout 11 or 12 everytime i'd start to drift off, the mental image would pop back into my head.  sadbigeye

Sondra, no worries. i'm not upset with you for posting, i was upset with the idiot for being an idiot, our society for not seeing that murder the same as the murder of a child, and at myself for reading it KNOWING it was just gonna upset me.

D, yes it needs to be told, but i dont need to read it. I gladly bear the burden of knowing Braveheart's story because it opened my doors to Ollie and Caleb. it opened my eyes to the plight of parrots. And it is a burden to me, i feel physical pain when i picture him.  But this story accomplishes nothing for me. not only is it painful to know, but the incident took place mere miles from me. So it just hurts me worse to know it was so close yet so far away.

IF I had posted *CRUELTY* before the title you probably wouldn't have read it, so I'm gonna try to do that when I post anything of this nature. I believe it's a courtesy that needs to be afforded to people BEFORE they open a link such as this one. I DO know how you feel when you say these posts cause physical pain, they do me also, so I try to only post the less graphic ones - I can't even read the really bad ones.  vomit

What ticks me off is he said "It's my parrot, I can do what I want with it. I threw it so i wouldn't hit my girlfriend." Excuse me,  but if that were me, i would GLADLY take a hit/beating before my bird got even a FEATHER on his body hurt.  rambut2

Stories like this hurt, but they also piss me off to no end because of the idiocity/inhumanity that is out there in the world. People like that think it's ok to do something so horrific to an innocent being. And i agree with Toz, murder to an animal/pet is JUST the same to me as murdering a child--or even another person. The bail to me is not enough, nor is him going to jail. i wanna see someone pick him up lets say 300 ft in the air, and just drop him.

But another thing that pisses me off, is that today, in our society, knowing what has happened in the past (Michael Vick ring a bell?) that he will essentially get off with a slap on the wrist.  :pipen: :pipen:

Sorry for my rant. I just need to stop reading those things.

A warning label is a good idea  thumb

No no Sondra, dont be sorry!  hugu not mad at you at ALLLLLL.  like toez said, people's cruelties, inhumanities. You keep on keeping on, dont u worry, k?  D,  what's with you? Did I say anything about not posting? Who the hell am I to ever dictate what to post and what not to post? ...  sadboy3 ...I really dont know why everything has to be a fight with us.  All i said was might be a good idea to go back to posting a *warning to graphic images* like we've done in the past. nothing new here.   think nothing radical.  dknow

Whoa  slaph  Honestly Debz none of my posts in this thread were in response to you.  Relax, or I will give Julio that plain ticket to Colorado  laffhrd  I was making a general statement.  And yes, we have done many times the *warning* thing for graphics and disturbing posts but some here have not been around as long so thought it a godd idea to bring up again as Sondra and you said.  No biggy, I am fine, really  dknow

at first i thought the comment was directed at me. but after reviewing the thread, took it more of encouragement to sondra so she wont quit posting such links.

i think that posting the links for the casual browser to see is good.  people need to know the plight of parrots. i also think the 'warning label' is a great idea. i'm sorry, i just cant bear the pain.  dknow  and telling me bout it is kinda like 'preaching to the choir.' cause i'm out there with the rest of ya'll discouraging the average idiot from getting parrots .  slaph
