Our Raccoon.  clap  I kinda knew she was still around as in late winter/early spring a coon was demolishing my garbage and I can hear her living in my attic slaph  But, have not seen her in a long while and have not put out scraps for her before like I used too because I do not want her getting used to humans that will probably kill her.  Saw her on the deck and took a while to see if it was her or another.  She was there a while and I compared pics.  She is the only one who will go on our deck in daylight and this also probably means she is prego again, and she demolished all the bird food. roll  I will probably give her scraps but this time way over behind the chicken coop.  Just love this gal loveuk  Here is a link of her and her babies from last summer..  http://buffaloparrot.smfforfree3.com/index.php/topic,9992.0.html

Good idea putting the scraps out back, away from human contact. This way the babies will not get used to humans either.

I am used to it.  Nothing we can do and there has been no damage, thus far at least. roll  We have chipmunks, field mice, squirrels, and yes a raccoon or two that shacks up here but they never do damage as I check.  Raffy is only there in the winter and she sets up camp outdoors in spring/summer.  I figure I am on their land so we all share and get cozy in the winter  headhammer  Also had a skunk that had a burrow in the basement but that had to end  :cstars:

Also forgot.  Have a family of woodchucks that have burrows from garage to chicken coop.  :morn:

I was surprised to see her yesterday and man...was she starving....didn't put anything out for her but let her get what the birds didn't eat.  I put the birds food out early in the am and like D said won't put anything near the house...again.
You name it, we got out here!

Awww, that's so cute!! I love raccoons.  loveuk

Those pics of Raffy & family remind me of my sister that died two years ago. She lived alone in her small travel trailer in my garage here at the lake and she would leave her door & screen open for her old tom cat to come & go. She was eating fried chicken & watching t.v. one night, really into the show & then she saw something appear in her doorway that was not her black & white cat. Standing up on it's hind legs she had a Mama raccoon reaching for her plate of chicken. Sharon said she told Mama as she named her that she could have some, but she had to go back out & she gave her & babies the rest of what she had.  :twirl:

They were always coming around at supper time to see what she was going to give them next. She also had a Mama mouse who came to eat at her door step & one day Mama brought babies along. Sharon said she did have to insist the skunk not come back & it seemed to have understood her & didn't return. We all called her "Ellie May" from the Beverly Hillbillies. When I was 6 yrs. old, Sharon's dog got into a fight with a Mama raccoon in a tank & my Mom killed the raccoon to keep it from drowning Sharon's dog. They found the nest the raccoon had & 2 babies, but on of the other dogs killed one baby & my sister raised one of them. It was a female & when she was grown she went back to the creek area where the other coons were & would occasionally come back for a visit. My Grandad had Robbie, her name spoiled to climbing up his back, over his shoulder & reaching in his shirt pocket for a sugar wafer cookie. He loved that raccoon!  hugu

My sister's "pet coons she fed around here won't come into my yard due to my dogs, but they still get into the trash in the dumpster! At night in the dark I will often go to the dumpster and all of a sudden a coon jumps out & runs like Hell the other way.  lol

My friend at work had squirrels getting into her attic & one finally chewed a place to get into her house. She didn't know it at the time & had a bag of pecans in a drawer. The bag kept getting less & less & she thought her grandkids were sneaking into the pecans. She saw the little culprit one day & no more squirrel.  2sadk She's not a nature lover & made sure no more critters invade her home!  hmm
