Karen Rowe, an ornithologist with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has determined that the bird kill on New Year's Eve was due to people shooting off several loud, professional-style fireworks. The fireworks scared the birds who had been roosting as a flock in a grove of trees. The birds have very poor night vision and were disoriented and flew into roofs, barns, and the ground. They all died from blunt-force trauma to their breasts. The bird deaths had nothing to do with a fish-kill several hundred miles away. I know this will have no effect on those of you who see a conspiracy around ever corner, but for those of you who studied logic in college, remember the story of Occam's Razor. Title: Re: Dead birds Post by: sophiemae on January 06, 2011, 06:33:52 pm No conspiracy theory here. I think that is a very likely explination for their deaths. I can see them as having one mega night fright together at the sounds of fireworks and most likely sight too.
