Ok so ever since i got Visto I have wanted to get him a playgym.  I purchased a tabletop one at Petsmart and put it together with so much excitement for him.  I couldn't wait for V to get on it to play, but as you all know - HE HATED IT!!  :pipen:  slaph  :pipen:  But then Smurfy found it and LOVES IT  loveuk handshappy loveuk  so it is her home away from cage lol.  Then last week Tozie made her playgym and I knew I could do it too!!  I mentioned that i was going to make one for V and Tony and AUstin laughed at me.  But i was serious, I was not going to wait on Tony to get off his office chair and put on a tool belt!  So while at my mother in laws yesterday I mentioned it to her.  Her and I have built things together in the past and I knew with her help I could do it.

So we put out heads together and looked on line at ones out there for sale that we could copy.  thinkin3  Then we decided that if we had a base that was already made we could easily create the gym part so we were thinking about what we could use.  thinkin3 we went to her basement that house all the extra stuff that family doesn't need or use.  and we found a tv tray.

So we started designing the gym and decided what we needed to make it.  well by this time, Mr. "I wont be showed up by my wife" piped in with "why dont we go to Home depot on the way home and I can make the gym tonight?"  lol I love how it takes the fact that I am going to do something that he wont or doesnt have time to do, to get him to do it for me  laffhrd (really that was my plan all along yesterday  smile3 )   Grand total at Home Depot for the wood was $15.59.

So here are the pictures of the process.

Here is the finished product last night, before we added the toys

Here is the completed play tower with toys

and Visto on his new home away from cage

Right now he isnt really sure of it.  I placed it right beside his cage with the cage door open.  I figured he could go on it if he wanted and check it out but he can easily get back to his comfort zone.  he has ventured to it a couple of times and stays for a few minutes then back to the cage he goes.  I really think the problem with the table top play gym that i bought was the colors of the wood.  Here is a picture of Smurfy on the table top

handshappy clap   hey!! go you!!! i'm jealous... i dont have a table top saw.  oh  ya'll did a great job! i'm sure once visto gets used to it, he'll be all over it. I've been creating playgyms off and on for a couple years, now skittles and marley are so used to new playgyms (and they usually watch the creating) they wont even wait til i get it done! lol! you wait and see, it wont be long before visto is all over that new play area. and it'll grow. next thing ya know, you've moved the sofa to another room to make room for the play-city! lol!

I am sure that in a few days he will be all over it too.  you could watch the thought processes he was having trying to figure out how to go from one perch to another.  It is like he doesnt know what all his body can really do.

NICE! thumb

Visto is still a baby, so give him time to learn how to do all the things he is supposed to do. Have hubs attach a water and food dish to the playgym and before you know it you be chasing him around it to get him off of it! LOL!!
