well Colbie freaked out this morning when I was trying to put a piece of egg bird bread in the cage, he flew out of the front and onto the floor.. I asked my son to get a washcloth ASAP and scrounged for my bird net.  He was on the floor UNDER my heavy desk and just looking at me. I stuck the washcloth under there and he crawled to the right, but out in the open sort of, and wedged himself between the cabinet that holds the cage and another shelf.  nutty bird.  I put the washcloth on top of him so he could have something to grab onto, he was mad but took the hint and climbed inside it, I had him then, wrapped up in the washcloth with his head sticking out.. I have never held him so he thought I was about to eat him I guess, and wriggled out. OFF HE WENT! he flew around the room, twanging against things and I could not help but think "pinball machine".  He flew out of the door of the classroom and into my kids room, back and forth.  the kids were wound up with all the excitement of this adventure.  they helped me keep track of him. I swooped him out of the air with the bird net, a slow catch.  He sat in the silky net, looking around, I gathered the cloth up a few inches above him so he could move but not escape (again-the turkey). then i released him back into the cage.  HE was fine, went right back to chirping away.  Victor was pinny-eyed and panting a little, more upset than COlbie! He always has been the more sensitive guy.  I noticed that Colbie had only one tail feather left after this adventure.  I found one on the floor by the desk and another nearby. There will probably be more discovered as the day goes on. little stinker.

you can see the lone feather better with a silhouette:

here he is live and in living color:

Poor little pumpkin didn't realize what he was getting himself into by flying off.  Glad everything turned out alright minus a few feathers.  I like how Victor was concerned, Julio and Chico will do the same, or call for the other if they are apart.

the funniest part was he was mr. cool, just a Steve McQueen in the cooler like it was no big deal, got right back in his cage and on his perch and started talking about the weather.  :glasses:

and you are right; after staying up late to watch a movie, and it being a Monday, I was in no condition for such excitement!! LOL I had to go get a glass of water after that one!! woke me up fast! LOL!  :cstars:  :deer:

LOL Sondra I did, all you could hear was a very angry washcloth!  he has always been a feisty little wombat! he is fine as can be, was 3 minutes after he was returned, just an adventure for him, he is a marvelous flyer, he didn't hit everything as much as careen off the walls, and he can fly very well  thumb.  nutty bird.
