I watched the vid for the straight jacket thingy...it shows traditional toweling vs this thing...it was more traumatic to see how they were holding the parrots....I have never held them like that before!  They say it is safe though, it just looks scary.
I think it looks kind of cool vs toweling for trimming nails, beak.  Not to be used for restraining the bird in general or behavior.  And no I never knew they had them!  They would be easy to make though.

you know what????  :bruce: LOL

I made fun of those snuggies til I GOT one.  . I cracked up when someone mentioned me defending my snuggie! LOL!  dmblaf

being able to keep the shoulders covered and neck covered and still use the hands for sewing or eating or reading a bedtime story with a child whilst sitting under drafty living room windows and a malfunctioning (again) furnace? PRICELESS. I tell you, that thing is awesome, and I heard someone else say "they make fun of them til they get one" oh it is sooo true. the pet snuggies are dumb IMHO, it is a jacket,a dn they work the same way..but this is really good when any body part you peek out becomes frozen! I could SLEEP under that thing I swear... I actually DID fall asleep under it while watching TV with hubby last week.. when I stand up in it, there is so much extra material that hubby cracked up and said "it looks like you are going to cast a spell" because it was all big flowing sleeves and wizardly-robish, LOL.. I admit I feel silly in the darn thing, but one thin i am not is COLD! LOL!  peace it was 61 degrees in this house last night. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

as for the bird "straitjacket" , I guess it is good for when you have a bigger bird/wilder bird or something for vet purposes..Julian wriggled out of his towel more than once during our 3x a day totion ritual or bandage changes..I pinned him between my knees on a few occasions.. if he had been a bigger bird I would have been in for it! It would have been nice to have a second pair of hands, but hubby was afraid of crushing him and the kids are just too young and inexperienced to be gentle and firm at once.

my kids wanted snuggies too! my son: "its genius! a blanket with sleeves!!" they got them too! they LOVE THEM! it isn't exactly the same as a robe on backwards (i put my snuggie on abckwards out of curiousity LOL) but it is a similar concept.  thumb

The way they hold the birds in the video is similar to how my vet will hold bitey birds. They can't bite someone that way and tend to relax somewhat (I stress the somewhat). The hold looks uncomfortable but isn't, I've actually grabbed Powder in a similar hold when he was going through a real bad phase of biting.
