Fly Free little one!
Our sweet Henry is gone. I worked my second job this afternoon and hubs got a call from my brother asking to borrow a tool. He put all the birds away, put hooch in her kennel and left. He came home to find our back door wide open & Hooch outside. He called Hooch over to him before going in and Hooch dropped something at his feet, it was Henry. The glass in the back door was busted & Hoochs collar was off her, it will come off if you try to pull her. There were a few of Henrys feathers in the kitchen and in the shop. None outside. Hooch does not have access to the house, only the shop, so we know someone was after Henry, and Hooch. I'm so upset I've made myself sick. I'm PISSED too!

Henry was the only bird whose cage wasn't in the bird room. I'm kicking myself now for not putting him in there. He loved to look out the window. He was such a joy, as soon as we opened the top of his cage he'd climb right out and hop up onto a finger to be carried out to the playgym. He'd whistle with Ponco. He was learning the different songs poncho would sing and try to mimic him, he even had started mimicing Higgys whistles in his soft Tiel voice.
I know I should feel fortunate that none of the other birds were taken, but I'm really Pissed that someone broke in. We could see marks in the snow where someone tried to drag Hooch. Who-ever it was went over the back fence. I'm really pissed and don't feel safe here anymore. Now I think I know how Powder feels. Hubs installed something on the back door so that they can't get to the window now. I thought after changing all the locks to the doors this wouldn't happen. Yes, someone broke a pane of glass on the back door and opened the door, took Henry out of his cage, and hooch out of his cage. Hooch slipped her collar and probably went and knocked into the person & we figure they became afraid and dropped Henry. Henry couldn't fly and Hooch probably pickd him up abd he died of fright. Henry's body was wet with slobber, but no broken bones, not bit.
I just don't understand. why Henry? He wasn't an expensive bird, not like a grey or a too. Was it because they thought he was hubs bird, Poncho, someone who is mad at hubs? Or just someone out to take what they thought they could make money on? If that was the case, why not take some of the inventory?
Sorry, I'm rambling, trying to make sense out of this cruel and senseless act.

You know, I don't think whoever went farther than the kitchen. Nothing was missing and we have computers, guns, shotguns, rifles, jewelry all in other rooms. Hubs says he feels like he let me down and Henry down, he's even more upset than I am. I mean all they had to do was walk through the kitchen and down the hall to the first bedroom and all the other birds were in there, except Higgy and he was in the next bedroom. WHY HENRY? How can you do that to a bird? Hubs wouldn't let me see Henry, so I don't know if the person killed him or if he died from fright or what. Hubs swears there aren't any bite marks on him & I believe it because Hooch has a "soft" mouth. That is the very first time she has brought him ANYTHING and dropped it at his feet, we have to bribe her with a treat to get her to drop a ball or she runs around with it until you go sit down and then she drops it in anotherroom and joins you. I wish we could afford an alarm system. I think I'm going to look into a security camara system after taxes.
Of course all the cops can do is take a report & ook around.

It may be that the person who broke in didn't even realize there were other birds there as they were in the birdroom. I hope they catch whoever did this. This just makes me so angry! What type of dog is Hooch?

Sondra, do you suppose there might be evidence in Hooch's mouth? Maybe she tried taking a chunk out of the guy? Do you think this is related to the Powder incident?
