Patti, Rose will mourn, it's as natural for them as it is for us. She could bounce back quickly, or it could take a while, each bird is different. Our Higgy mourned for 6 months, our Max about a week.
Did you let her see him? If not, it's ok.

Yes, I took him to her....she tried to wake him up....We were all 3 together, Then I took him and held close and kissed him all over,Petted and rubbed his super soft feathers and begged the Lord to answer why.... cry 2sadk cry

She has been ok today...Its Awfully Quiet here!! stop cry
Preston took me to eat...finally...

I really dont know what to do with her, they were so Bonded....They really loved each other and now she has no one to preen her....That is what Im concerned with.
Ive already thought of giving her his cage, because it was a better shape, but not for a little while. It has a tree on top that they spent lots of times on playing that she can climb and continue her exercise.

Thanks everybody....Sondra Ive already copied your poem and Im going to have my Daughter make a Memorial to him with it.

oh i am so so sorry honey.. i wish i had the right words to say to make you feel better but there are none at all. please give yourself,preston and rose time to heal. dont feel you have to rush the healing process we are all here for you anytime thats what family is for. email me if you need me and i will give u my number feel free to call me any time day or night. you are an amazing parront and axel knew that and he loves you still. he will always be with u even if you cant see him you will feel him with you always. i am in tears knowing what you are going through isnt easy each one of us has felt this pain and you are in the right place to get the support you are going to need. love ya girl and again i am so so sorry  hugu

Boy it's a pretty dark day. "she tried waking him..." ok, I lost it at that point. Like zimbz said, biggest fear for any one of us is to uncover and...
Mourning for anyone will take as long as it takes. Patti, do your best to keep Rose close with and to you. Talk to her and this tells her that she's not alone through it. Clear yourself of tomorrow  stay in the now. Make sure she is eating and drinking.  ((hhuugg)))

Patti, Rose got to see that Axel was gone, she understands that or you'd hear her calling and calling for him. You did the right thing in letting her see him & touch him, to say good-bye. Remember the good times, the fun times, and smile through those tears.
As Debz stated make sure you keep an eye on Rose, make sure she's eating and drinking, she too is mourning her lose.

Oh MY!!!! cry  :bricks: madst...I so feel pilled on and want to pitch a fit like a little kid!

Oh Wishy,
I came in the morning to my Beautiful Calendar and just balled!!.....I had to write on it that Axel had Died!!!!
At least I will be able to see good memories on there- Even thought- its NOT FAIR madst

I went to put Debz Ornie with my Christmas stuff this morning and stepped out to the garage.....His Empty cage!! cry littleangel.... 2sadk

I know, I know..I need to get over it.....Damnit!!!!!... weirdo3

It's my PMS week too cry cry :pipen:.... grouphug

oh...I hurt Y'all....... worship

Its not fair to the rest of my Babies at home.....Although Rose has bit the crap out of my and Charlie has mad me giggle....

Oh Lord, this is so hard, it feels as bad as it did when My MOM died!!! That's Pretty Bad!!
