Ok y'all remember the red spot on HW's heel. It got better but now he has a play stand, problem is it has the same sized perches. I am unable to change the diameter of them. I have never seen such a perch potato in all my life , he loves his stand, but now it is getting darker pink, almost red again. I have tried wrapping it in jute which lasted about 20 seconds before he started unraveling it. I thought about putting a cushiony thing called allevyn on there and wrapping it with vet wrap. I have no idea where to get vet wrap first of all. Any other ideas?

ahhhhhh thanks Sondra, it looks the same as Coban, i can get that at the pharmacy! Was also thinking of using batting like for a comforter under the vet wrap. Maybe that will take enough pressure off.

At one time I had seen the wrap/coban at pet stores as well. D just bought....a wrap at the grocery store that I put on Squigg's wooden perches......"hurt free wrap"....it is between gauze and coban with the stretch. You could get some fun colors at least with some of the wraps!

Is there a way you could attach a rope perch to his playgym? That would give him some difference in texture and some softness.

Oh Zim, IN his cage I already changed them and then the redness went away. He came with it and I found that he enjoyed his beloved swing too much. I don't want to change that though because it is his sleep perch. So after he was here a couple weeks I had them all changed out except that one. He has ropes, manzanita, a huge branch, java, and a pedi IN the cage but he is rarely in there. Most of the day he is out however I am making it a point to put him back in for a while because of that. I spent a fortune on the stand tho. It's perches are varying diameters within each perch but they are all the same. I did place a rope there which he would not bother with at all, then I tried the jute. It is basically that stand, I know it. if I can't get this to work I may have to buy a different type.

Sondra, I did try to make one, lets just say ...it is INTERESTING. I suck at stuff like that. haha I used it like a day and said ummmm yeah maybe not. lol But I had a thought last night...bubblewrap. What about a layer of bubblewrap under the vet wrap, creating a small pocket of air under his heel. of course all these ideas are prividing he does not remove them in 3 minutes lol.

yep it is pink again like when he first came to me. flattened like a pressure area. Not infected or open like bumble foot, but i am sure it will be if I don't do anything about it.

It's NOT bumble foot. I'll try to find the link with pics and I'll send it to you in a PM.

bubble wrap I can see that would last about 2 seconds it would be like...thanks mom what a cool thing to rip up. I think you have to buy one or build a new one (and of course since I have been out of it I didnt know you changed all of the perches around already.)
