During lunch today while at work I had to pick up a few things at a chain store near the hospital.  As soon as I entered this store I heard "Parrot" squawking.  To my anger once again I see 2 Quakers in a small cage located on floor level and no higher than my knees!  I tried to go my way when a guy with 2 dogs on one leash were headed towards that cage.  He allowed the dog to briefly attack the cage bars of these already stressed Quakers!  Now my anger was getting bad..  He looked like a nice guy and didn't think he meant intentional harm as I knew he probably had no clue about Parrots, Etc..  So I buried that also and tried going my way when he cluelessly walked by me with the dogs and they both went around me and clothes lined me to the point where I almost hit the floor!!  He didn't look or seem to care as I was struggling to not hit the floor!  Well?  I SNAPPED!  I said..HEY!  Will you watch your *bleep*ing dogs, and also don't be letting them attack a cage with birds in it will ya, jerk off! >:(  Yeah..I lost it but at this point didn't care and was ready to throw down 8)  He looked at me very shocked..And left! azn.gif  Aaagh, I just don't know any more :-\

Sounds like you were already a little wound up but did you have a chance to inform the managers about the poor location of the bird cages? If you didn't you still have time over the weekend why don't you give them a call, you may feel better and they may move the cage. As a pet sitter I do care for dogs but I have to be honest with you guys they are not my favorite..I'm just not a big dog fan, don't get me wrong I give them excellent care but given the choice I would rather care for birds.

The difference between kids and parrots is that it's funny when a parrot talks back.

I have been to many of these stores.  The cages are stacked and permanent.  Two rows with one stacked on top of another, and too small for a single Budgie!  Why they would put the Quakers on the bottom baffles me, but any bird there shouldn't be in a location like this!  I don't say anything because I know it will end with me punching out the manager, and will be bad for me!  This is the same chain that got rid of Molly with no explanation!  So what am I to do? >:(

Send the Store headquarters a very firm but tactful letter explaining what you saw and what happened to you. You may not get anywhere, but you never know. You can't make a difference if you don't try. Besides you can't punch someone in a letter.  :o Can you?

Some people with animals don't respect the animal itself nevermind another animal not in their care.  I would send a letter.  And the guy deserved it if he wasn't in control of his dogs or at least apologize immediately if he was attempting to socialize and train them.  He obviously didn't give a crap so good for you!

I think If I had been with D, I would have made a much bigger scene and with all my yelling the manager and all employees were sure to have seen what the screaming was about.  The cages this store puts its birds in (the smaller ones) is horrible!  They are stacks of 3 high and 2 on each level.  If you want to see the birds on the bottom you have to crouch down.  It is terrible and I will urge D to write the store.

Ah! The joy of being a moderator!
Hey goofy! 'ignorant' and 'uneducated' mean the same thing. If I am correct in judging your intention (a dangerous exercise in the best of times) you probably should have said 'ignorant and stupid' or 'ignorant and developmentally challenged'. One implies a lack of so-called 'book learning' while the other implies a deficiency of brain power.
You are welcome!
