you vent lady! that's what i love about BP. we can all say what we think and not get beat up for it. its so hard to get it through some heads that what is good for one may not work for another. and the beauty of this country is we each have the right to NOT have the beliefs of others imposed on us.
if i could leave all mine flighted i would. but ya'll remember when marley was  flighted and he was a danger to himself and everyone else. and i think that whether someone feels their fid needs to be clipped or flighted, who am i to tell them they're wrong?

Everyone is allowed their own opinions and way of doing things.  Well that is the way it should be.
We tried it with Julio for his safety and Chico's.
Yeah, it is nice to be here and have people here to help when you are in need or desperation.  Even if everyone doesn't agree with it you may at one time be desperate and need the help and advice! thumb

I've probably come across the person you are referring to. If this person is who I think it is she is ALWAYS RIGHT, there is no way but hers and she's been tossed from more boards than I care to even attempt to read. Her croonies are just as bad as she is, she is the B-all, end all of their universe. "How dare you cripple a bird that way!" "that's like cutting a dogs legs off!" (That's what I was told)

All anyone can do is offer advice, if it works GREAT, if not then they try something else.
Clipping wings is a personal thing for the bird and caregiver. I would prefer not to clip, but there are good reasons for clipping. What people mustunderstand is that if their bird is used to flying then more feathers need to be clipped and usually they WILL still manage to fly a week after clipping because the bird has good chest and wing muscles. Birds that don't normally fly CAN and WILL if startled. If you can provide a safe place for your birds to fly - great. If you can not make sure your birds won't escape into the outdoors, fly into walls, attack people, fly into windows, get crushed by doors, then let them fly, unfortunately most people can't/won't be able to provide such a situation.

NO Sondra it was no one on BP, and definately not you girl!!  I just knew I could vent here lol.  Nah this person I am sure just wanted to give me a dig, so I gave one right back.  Politely.  I agree it is a personal choice and it depends on the situation and the bird.

Learning is about offering advice, taking advice even though you may not agree, and excepting someones choice and or actions without chastising, and excepting criticism if offered in a polite manner .  If you have a closed mind and only believe in one way or your way you will never learn and will not be able to teach another.  Make sense? dknow

makes perfect sense.  peace I think everyone should do what is best for their family.  thumb  they know the dangers (potential) in their homes better than anyone else.

See this is why i keep one bird trim and one bird not I fool everyone im like i like clipping then im like no i dont i can fool you guys lmao sorry i crack myself up.

On a serious not though i hat ding bats that think they know everything because for saftey you might have to clip a bird that stinks at flying and flies into stuff.  See in real lifethe weak dont die off so clutzy birds exist that might need some help to prevent injury.
