Finally yoshi's blood feather grew in and he got clipped today. I clipped 5 and the lil stinker was still zipping around like nothing happened. UGH he is such a strong flyer! So had to go back and clip another 2 and took more from the other 5. He is still able to glide short distances. i hate to take too much at first and make him drop like a rock. He is still able to make it from his cage to the couch-already figured out how much to change his flight pattern and it was only 5 min ago! Good golly molly they are smart lil guys , our birdies aren't they? Anyway this will keep him from getting out the door with the kids and keep him off of Zuri's cage. Gosh that scares the crap outta me! I fear one day I will not get there in time. That could be disasterous.

It is amazing how well they can maneuver around when clipped. It didn't slow Julio down for long either. They adapt very well!

i know what ya'll mean! when i clipped marley we had to clip 3 times to get him grounded enough to stop him from trying to invade ollie's cage. lol! and the little brat got one flight feather in and started flying again! i swear that bird grows flight feathers faster than jack's beanstalk!

We're lucky our birds let us look at their wings to cut around any blood feathers - we have to maintain mid way clips on the Tiels or they fly too high if they get outside. Both Momma and Poncho are recall trained, so it helps - but we have hawks & high flights means the dinnerbell is ringing. Poncho flies all over even with a severe clip so we just do a normal clip, mid way of all flight feathers and duck ALOT!! :cstars: He's such a cutie and really enjoys flying, but he only will come for hubs so if he should escape the house I'm screwed. At least Momma will come to anyone who calls her.
