Name:  Kiwi

Species:  Canary Winged Parakeet (aka Yellow Chevroned Parakeet)

Gender: Male

Native Habitat:  Amazon Drainage Basin: Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina and Peru.

Hatch Date or approximate age: April 19th, 2006

Nicknames:  Green Machine, Sweet Pea, Kiwi Peewee

Talks: Yes... says step up!

Hand Tame:  Yes!

Where Obtained and how you came together:  Obtained from a chain pet store as an adoption after he went into a terrible state of depression and would barely even eat.  His apparent "mate" had been sold and he no longer interacted with anything but after multiple medical examinations had been performed depression was declared the culprit.

Favorite Foods:  Nutriberries and Coca-cola (no he is not allowed any... but one day he got a taste off the rim when i set a can next to his cage and ever since i CAN NOT have an open can or bottle in the room or he makes a direct beeline for it)

Favorite Toys:  Bells and very soft wood

Medical Issues/Concerns:  None

Quirks, Habits, etc..:  other than a coke addict...  he is also easily jealous of my other parrots when i give them attention and has alot of attitude in a small body.   Despises cell phones.  He is also my problem solver of my parrots, he is very good at the foraging toys and figuring out how to accomplish what he is trying to master.  Not a heavy chewer.  Not overly cuddly but very social and wants to be with me.  He is my refined, collected, thoughtful bird.  Quick to think, not so quick to act.

The difference between kids and parrots is that it's funny when a parrot talks back.

When all is done that is asked from me and I can fly no higher, I pray this day his hand extends to welcome home a flier.
