Name: Cheyenne

Species: Blue and Gold Macaw

Gender: Female

Native Habitat: Brazil

Hatch Date or approximate age: No known hatchdate. I celebrate her hatchday a different day each summer. :P Out of the blue I'll be like "Today will be your hatchday, Cheyenne. Happy birthday!"

Nicknames: Sweetie, Pretty Girl, the Big Blue Monster (though she doesn't act like a monster at all)

Talks: "Hi" "Hello" "Hi Sweetie" "Step up" "Quiet"

Hand Tame: To women, yes! She used to be abused by a man though, so she's scared of all men now.

Where Obtained and how you came together: Cheyenne was consdiered a "spare" at a breeder's because her mate had died. I offered to sort of foster her for awhile and try to find her a home, and just ended up getting her myself! When we got her, she was almost completely bald on her chest, legs, and back. Even since we got her, though, she's stopped plucking and is doing rather well!

Favorite Foods: Peas!! She also likes grapes and nuts. :)

Favorite Toys: Rope Toys, foraging toys, thin wood to destroy, whiffle balls with treats stuffed inside, and her favorite thing in the world is her swing (that takes up half her cage).

Medical Issues/Concerns: Other than the fact that she's missing quite a few feathers, Cheyenne has a couple health issues. First off, she's overweight. We're working on that.  :P She also has a mineral deposit in her right eye that looks like a little white dot. The vet said that it doesn't bother her sight at all, though. And it's not a cateract, thank goodness! Finally, she has a slight scissor beak that needs occasional trimming. Not too bad, though.

Quirks, Habits, etc..: If it were up to her, she would hang out on her heated perch all day long, even though the cage doors are open all day! But I make her get out of the cage during the day to get some exersize. She likes to dance to Queen.  ;D  She also likes to roll on her back and play with her feet.

Darren- I forgot that you had a daughter named cheyenne!! Tell her that she was named after a brid.  :P
LMC- Since my room is parrot-themed, the sheets didn't really match.  They were a bit distracting as well.  :D  But I agree, they are happy colors! My sister uses them now.

LOL, she may like the idea of being named after a parrot....but I do know if you ask her what she was named after she will tell you after the Cheyenne tribe of american indians.  Just a funny thing because D is very or was very big into american indians especially the Lakota's and lo and behold Here I come into the picture with exactly that tribe in my blood line from my dad's side.  Just a little bit of coincidental info... :)
