Yes he is still on pains meds & we go back to the vet tommorow afternoon for a check up. Which is cool but I dread grabbing him and putting him in the crate to get him there he hates it and I hate to stress him out or risk getting him injured again.
Oh well it has to be done, our vet is awesome she has called 3 times over the weekend to check on him.

I know how you feel about caging. We had an incident where we were robbed earlier this year. We were 2 doors down and could see our front door, the person came in our side door out of our line of sight - ALL OUR BIRDS WERE LEFT OUT!! I have one very traumatized U2, to the point the vet has suggested prozac. We don't know what happened, but we have our suspicions. Now ALL birds are put in their cages is we EVER walk out the door! Can you imagine if we had come home to NO birds instead of just scattered birds! bugeye My point is you never know who looks in your windows, who's watching your comming and going & who knows you have birds. Our bird room door also has a lock installed on it and we carry the key when we leave.

The doors were locked and the birds were on their playgyms. Long story short is we KNOW who it was, she admitted being here, but denied entering the house or stealing money from our business. She admitted she had a key made without our knowledge that she stole from her Ex. She wanted money for drugs and she always insisted on holding our birds who hated her - we NEVER let her near any of them.
We actually bought 2 new doors, changed locks on the other door and added aditional security, and we never leave the birds out any more. If someone wants them they are going to have to REALLY work to get at them.

So last night at 230 am Zimba fell from his sleeping perch, scared the hell out of me. I got up to check on him & felt so bad for everything he has been through the past few days I opened his cage & took him out, brought him into bed with me. I snuggled and talked to him and let him stay with me for a couple of hours. I didnt fall asleep so dont worry I was not going to roll over on him.

We went to vet for a follow up today, she said everthing looks good it will just take some time for him to get better.

one of the things I have always been firm about with Zim is once he is oin bed I do not let him out so my letting him out last night was not somethging I have ever done before.

Zim, more cage time will let him heal quicker. I know how hard that is as one of our tiels broke his leg in a freak accident and we had to cage him 6 weeks. He slept so much that we were able to remove the "cast' in 4 weeks because the body heals while it sleeps. Night frights are common after a stressful incident. I'm not telling you that you did wrong, but don't remove him from his cage after a night fright for any longer than it takes to calm him down because it will quickly become a habit on his part - you don't want to stay up 2 extra hours every night do you? LOL! We are going through night frights with our U2 now - 2  a night about 2-3 times a week. It was every night for about a month.

I'm glad your boy is doing well. Extra rest time for a few more days and he'll be back to his old self!

I wonder if it was the pain meds that caused him to fall.  ya know being all discombobulated and all.  Poor Zimba.  I would take him out with me too.  Maybe put some blankets in there and lower the perches?  Dunno bout you but I would not be sleeping listening for a thump in the night.
