One of my friends on facebook has 2 blue & gold macaws that she rescued last year from her boyfriends friend this guy is a real knuckle head.
He abused and mistreated those birds and now he goes out and buys another bird!  roll
This time a greenwing he had it for about a month & the neighbors complained because he was so loud (he is kept out side in New Orleans) then I guess there were raccoons in the yard so he put the bird in a dog crate on the porch with no food and called my friend and said come get this bird try & sell it for me I don’t want it anymore.  :pipen:
He is absolutely beautiful and very friendly my friend posted a bunch of videos of him this bird was eating out of her hands right after she got him home, so trusting for the abuse he has been through. The cage he had him in was as wide as a newspaper if it is open the bird could not turn around without hitting his tail and could not open his wings. I just keep shaking my head at the ignorance.  sad8
He paid 1200 for the bird and wants his money back  (I call it randsome)  but Jan says it looks like he will take anything he just wants to get something back. He also said this is the last bird he will ever buy…I certainly hope so!

Anyway anybody out there knows anybody that could give this awesome big bird a forever loving home? I would love, love, love him but I am not in a position to do anything right now.

Ditty has already said she is interested in him and I would love for your family to adopt him. If I can help in transport of him to you I am in!!!

My gosh, I wish I could help......green wings are one of my dream birds.  cwy Too bad you are not closer to me and the semester had started already so I had money. Since Harley's passing there is an empty macaw sized cage sitting in my bird room. That is a very, very bad thing as it leaves the door open to another fid.

I hope i hope i hope...........

I have been looking for a GW for 3 years but I don't want to just go buy one, I really want to adopt.  Keep your fingers crossed for us.  But if he is afraid of dogs or kids I definately can't take him, not fair to the bird and I would never do that to him.

Ditty, GW's are known for being very tollerant and are adaptable to situations quickly.
Mine Love Children as well....I have 4 chihuahua's and he just bark's and fusses at them when they are too loud.

Great Species!!...He makes me Happy everyday-even when my ears are ringing from him hollering as in "Im a Happy Macaw".. weirdo3 weirdo3 weirdo3.scream.... :silence:
I just scream with him....just by letting him do his thing, I think makes for a Happy Macaw, ya know.
well, not to mention the unconditional love and spoiledness that swings his way.... :twirl:  clap

oooh, i wish i could help. i'm already promised to ollie. and i dont think skittles would deal well with another macaw in the house...then again, maybe he would kick me to the curb and marry the GW.  dmblaf  i hope it works out for ditty. i would love to see this poor guy go to a better home. if there's anything i can do, let me know, tho.

axel, skittles and i scream together, too. i've got him now to where i put my nose against his beak and we scream, look away, touch nose to beak and scream, look away. we do this a few times and then he will psych me and not scream so i scream alone! then we laugh together.

Tozie psych!  That is hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!! laugh

Yes the GW's I have been around are always gentle and playful.  I have loved them for a loooooong time.  the few that I have found over the years in the rescues one had been attacked by a dog, ummm not a good thing here then, know what i mean.

Ditty call me tomorrow during the day Janet wants to know if you are serious and still want the bird, she will take him for wellness check but that is about all she can afford. The lowest the owner will go is 600 bucks, he is such a jerk I dont like selling birds but I consider this a randsome to rescue this bird. oh I hope you can do this.....
It will be a long drive but so worth it, I just got off the phone with her and this is an awesome bird!!!!
You need to get him a big cage he is a very big bird.
