oh boy oh boy! thank you all so much! i'm just grining ear to ear  smile3
i'm so excited. speech, huh? okay lets see.....
i know, cause mom told me, that as a baby we had a little budgie. we had to get rid of it cause every time mom would kiss me it would attack her. lol! so then in my early 20's i got a tiel. i always thought they were great. but i was so uninformed. we didnt have the net back then to get info. so he was really agressive. i figured "well, i like birds, they just dont like me"so he was re-homed.  then, after my divorce my son wanted a tiel. so we got steve. steve was scared to death of hands. so i slowly got him used to me. i would rub his little head with my nose! and we shared fudge pops, he would walk through my spaghetti when i finished eating. lol! but alas, i opened the door to walk the dog one day and he escaped. i cried for 3 hours.  my son's friend's dad was selling their scarlet macaw. but i didnt have the money to buy it. so my friend gave me a tiel, tweety. the man who owned the macaw actually refused to sell it to a couple of people and held it for me for over a month. income tax time, i got skittles. my angel. we thought skittles was a he, and we still usually refer to him as a he. but i'm pretty sure he's a she! lol! then as we were out celebrating our income tax, we went to petco before we went out to eat. and there we met a little multi-colored caique. i had no idea what a caique was. i thought the store was wrong and he was a conure. he was so cute, and when he backstroked across the bottom of his cage with my finger in his feet, he won me over. i asked the manager if they would hold him for me while i got a cage ready for him. they said they usually arent supposed to but will do it for me. i promised i would be there as soon as i got off work the next day. they didnt expect me to come back. the bird was $1400! but as promised, i was there before 6. and marley came home with me. i didnt plan on getting another bird. i spent the money i had saved from income tax for emergencies. but it was meant to be.  and i wouldnt trade him for anything in the world. then a few months later i got up one morning to find tweety in the bottom of his cage bobbing. i picked him up and went to tell my son "something's wrong with tweety" at that moment he bit me and died in my hands. i was heartbroken. poor little tweety, i never found out what was wrong. then a few months later my same friend told me his mom was getting rid of a quaker parrot. did i want it? i couldnt refuse. and so twiggy was added to our family. kinda a long story but here i am only 2 1/2 years after i got my first bird (in my adult life, anyway) and i am so happy. i love them like my children. they save me the emptiness that goes with that empty nest syndrome. as my kids grow up and get lives, i have my angels. most of my family have passed on, so all i have are my angels and my kids, and my sister and her daughter. its a small family but we are full of love. most of my co-workers just shake their heads at me. they dont understand. i've found a new family here at buffalo sqwak. you understand my dedication to my birds. and i understand yours. i can be free to be myself here. and i thank you all for the opportunity to express myself, for your support, and for your companionship. i take a real interest in your lives and adventures and you all do the same for me.  peace
i'm truly honored. thank you all.
