So, kiddies, tell me.. without googling, How many of you know exactly how parrots mate?  I was wrong in my thinking that  males had an  internal *bleep* that would extend slightly when 2 birds were in the right ..er... position. That may be so for Donald (ducks, chickens and some other birds) But not our little fiddies. Male parrots do however have 2 testes each leading to tubes were the sperm travels down and matures (takes 4 days to mature) in a specific area  and collects and waits for breeding season.  Then, male and female vents find each other and fluids get transferred.  Why am I so interested? Well, today Pipz joined efforts with an apparently perfectly situated branch. Yep, you guessed it. I caught him burping the worm! Bludgeoning the beefsteak, Spouting old faithful !!!! anyway, you get the picture. I began to wonder, what parts if not a phallus, is he rubbing and getting stimulated??  I think that gets into a whole other research. Where are Nerve bundles exactly located? I remember some time ago, I was persuaded to do acupressure on Cat's vent/rump area in hopes of stimulating the "dead tail" back into motion. It was then, that the vet told me that in mammals, the location of nerve bundles are easily located. Not so easy with birds. In fact, it is not exactly known where bundles are located, and that they can only assume that it is in the same general areas as mammals. assume!
So, it is because they masturbate that it is know that there must be a cluster of nerves in the vent/rub area.
...yeesh... this is what happens when I cant fall asleep  happy ....get on line late at night..early morning and write something so incredibly redundant and insignificant...maybe I'll try counting some serta sheep....

I did not google, I looked it up on here in parrot anatomy, I think.  Lots of technical terms that I cannot deal with uncaffenated as I am right now.   :morn:

The gist is this if I am understanding correctly :cstars::  Everything is inside, of course.  Protruding "appendages" would interfere with flight, perching, etc. (I just threw that in, just my opinion!)  There is a gland in the area of the chloachea (spelling?) that enlages enough to deposit the "stuff" into the females (that word) when they are "ready". :smokinjoe:
