okay, I know all I have been able to talk about is my wretched ocd caique and her three eggs,  well anyway, I took the cockatiel's eggs away last night and no problem.  She had abandoned them about 2 weeks ago, but I left them for 28-30 days so she wouldn't be tempted to lay more.  Like a moron, I cracked them open to see if they had been fertile, they weren't, but one was rotten! vomit

So here's the thing, it is about that time to remove the caique's eggs now, they were never fertile, but she continues to nest and make that infernal beeping noise every 3 seconds at times, pausing in this only to eat and drink, sometimes she even takes a pellet down there with her and munches on it while sitting on the eggs!  At the toasty warm temp she's been keeping thm I can just bet money at least one of them is pretty ripe by now. hmm

How do I do this without causing extreme stress to my bird and myself?  She becomes very agitated and angry over these eggs.  I would have thought she would have given up by now, but no way!

At this point, I'd just pull them. You don't want to risk any illness due to rotten eggs. She will be pissed, but back to normal in a day or 2. She has had them long enough. If she is going to lay again, she will anyway when they don't hatch and she eventually abandons them. Pull the eggs, no nesting material, absolutely NO warm food of any kind, and pray. Thats about all you can do. No a lot of scritching and petting either. Don't get her in a lovey dovey mode.

I agree with Jadze.
If she is compelled to lay more she will.  Fingers crossed for you as I can sympathize with what you are going through.  It's hard when we do everything that we can to stop the laying and they do it anyways.

Thanks guys.  I can't clean up properly, there is a poopy perch in there I need to get hold of and clean.  Pepper's Pa, on BC says replace them with fake eggs.  He looked up the incubation time for me, it is 25-26 days.  So I agree, she has had them long enough!  Will let you all know what happens.  I know it will be like slapf!
