i think you both need alot more time.  have you talked to Barbie about it?  How long did she have Fergie before she has come to the point that they are right now?  8 years?  and she will still tell you she is learning and thigns are far from perfect... my advice is talk to her... i can think of no one better... but otherwise i think you should take more time and work with her.  Sounds to me like she isn't unhappy either... but she may never be the bird you imagined.  Good luck LMC.

Thank you for the pics, she is exactly as I pictured her, beautiful!! And all this advice is sound. She is not at all unhappy, just unsure.

What a beautiful Girl!!  You have received very good advice here!  It can take much time, but I rally feel you are both starting out very well.  I have no doubt she will settle in with your family and you will all have a special relationship for a long time AddEmoticons04239

Yes Barb and I do talk alot. In fact she said Lacey reminds her alot of Fergie when she first got her. I was actually just thinking of emailing her I'll have to get on that. Shes super supportive I wish she had time to join this forum

Well I just now emailed the head of the rescue where I found Lacey and asked for an extension of our foster period (30 more days which will put us to March 31st, my daughters 16th birthday  :'() so we will see what she has to say. I think I know which way I am leaning but I'd just like more time to make the decision because when she first came to us she was "unusually" quiet. Now we gets the "calls" and I can tolerate them, heck a tolerate a screaming 2 yr old...Its more of a matter can my other half. My son covers his ears and yells "Lacey a monster coming to get me" lol thats just sad

Of all the toys I have bought her (almost 300 dollars worth in a month and that doesnt include all the new perches) she has found a very large "bead" and carries it around with her. She is also starting to chew on some of the wooden toys in her cage but only when I vacuum and she'll sit under it and look up at it. I have a toy hanging from the ceiling above her cage and today she actually reached up with her foot and hit the bells a few times.. I think that she's getting the hang of toys

**now if only I can stop my CAG from his new hobby of throwing all his food and her (Laceys) new thing is licking her cage bars, whats with that?***

Yes Debz its orange here is a photo of her and the "bead" she chews on it, its not like shes "caring" for it. Its the one thing she plays with when she is out of her cage. She picks it up (or takes it from us) and chews on it

And I heard back from the rescue she said that another 30 days is not a problem. And she is shocked that Lacey perfers to be left alone she thought she had a more outgoing personality (this was based on meeting her that day I met her when she was surrendered)

My other half said today "maybe we can just foster lacey until she finds a home and we can foster another U2 maybe one thats more interactive  >:(

You have mentioned a Vacuum a few times here..Hmm?  I have an off the wall suggestion but before I say it I will talk about something first.  #1 our Parrots really seem to love it when the faucet is running in the back ground or if the vacuum is going.  It seems to calm them in a way.  A while back I had an extra Noise maker/Machine my daughter left behind.  It had many options such as "Tropical Forest", "Ocean Waves", "White Noise", "Summer Nights", Etc..  I looked at it one day and decided to put Tropical forest on.  They loved it!  Birds chirpin, and the works!  I then wanted to see what summer nights sounded like.  Just like the Jungle at night, with the insects chirping and everything.  I will now put this on sometimes while they sleep and it knocks them out cold!  I put it on where I can barely hear it as Parrots hearing is much more sensitive than ours.  What am I getting at here?  Maybe you could try something like this around her cage?  Something with "White Noise" that does sound like a vacuum by the way! ;)  This is just a thought, but who knows!  It could really help and you did say she openes up a bit when you run the vacuum :-\

She has an air purfier running 24/7 that has a "calming noise" Ive also thought of a sound machine. I used one with my daughter I might dig hers out and give it a try though
