so i have been wondering: would the magic eraser (not the heavy duty one with cleaner in it) be safe for cleaning cages? marley has this habit of spreading fruit pulp everywhere. and tho i can scrub it clean, a magic eraser would really make it quicker.
and
i use biokleen all purpose cleaner for cleaning around the birds. it has no fragrance,it leaves no residue, and it is made with completely natural components. i have to buy it at Mother Earth but it is worth it, as it lasts a long time and i know it is safe for the fiddies. would the new 'green' product line from clorox or lysol be safe for the cages?
and
what about fabreeze for the sofa? safe? i use the biokleen to clean it but since it as no fragrance or odor neutralizer it doesn't do much for that musty smell that we get.

NO on the magic eraser.  And febreeze I believe there is ONE they make that is safe for birds but right on the back of the bottles it says not safe around birds.  I am unsure of the one that is safe...I have never found it.  (found that out during the recent skunk raid)

Magic eraser is toxic and I know for a fact and have seen little kids skin burned by it.  Horrible second degree burns from helping mommy clean.  One kid I saw actually had the rectangle inprinted in a burn in his leg from it falling onto him. oh  So I no longer keep them in this house.

Oh forgot to mention what I use.  Duh sorry.

I use vinegar, hot water, and dawn dish soap mixture.  Like 3-1 ratio of vinegar and water and then add a few drops of dawn.  Works great.  For Yoshi's berries that is thrown everywhere I let it soak on for about 5 min and then take the scrub pad to it.

okay, thanks. i cant help but wonder if the magic eraser that burned was the one with cleanser in it? because i use the reg one, without cleaners built in, on everything, with my bare skin (even used my feet to scrub the shower while i was showering...dont ask it has to do with multitasking) just to be safe tho, will keep it to the kitchen and bathroom cleaning. better safe than sorry. oh well, so the house smells a little birdie, i can live with it. i've tried the vinegar cleaning solution. but found the biokleen does best. if i pre-treat, it comes clean pretty easily. i don't like the green scrubbies, they leave fibers all over the place. the "green" aka natural scrubbies don't seem to but they don't clean as well. you know, just had a thought..."i wonder if"...kinda thought.  oh well, i guess if it aint broke don't fix it.

Vinegar and water is great! I use it also along with Doodle for stubborn areas. You can get Doodle here:

Doodle is safe for dogs, cats, ferrets and birds. I know the woman who makes it and asked her.

For cages I use poop-off and also the vinegar and water....for household I use vinegar and baking soda.  For scrub a dub I use one of those scrubbies that has the attached handle, the fibers are bigger so they don't fray off everywhere.  I remember Pepper's Pa saying something a looong time ago about the green products out by Lysol and they contained something harmful, I am thinking it was an alcohol.  There's nothing like the house smelling like wet fiddies...or dog....lol, I sometimes will spray with a slightly watered down vanilla or boil some rosemary or apples, cinnamon, oranges.

laugh laugh laugh   I just got a visual....,you in the shower washing your hair with one hand, washcloth in the other and a magic eraser tied to each foot shuffle them back and forth.  And if you are very coordinated, you could paste one to your forehead and wipe the inside of the shower curtain too!

laugh jades, that is great. the best time to scrub is when you are letting the conditioner sit on your hair. works great. lol!
yeah, i know what you mean ditty. it is crazy that they would use cleanser that is that corrosive. i bought the heavy duty ones once and when i realized they had cleanser in them i threw them away. but the reg ones are great. when i ran the restaurant i took over a 25 yr old store that desperately needed cleaning up so we bought 20 boxes of them and cleaned 10 year old grease and ketchup stains off everything! and let me tell ya, ketchup is a better adhesive than gorilla glue!  headhammer
