I did a search, even called on recommended online.
Then saw a reviews for how they treated Birds.....ggrrrr

They say to have your Babies in carriers..that sounds all fine and good.
But Charlie, freaked out over the harness so bad. I promised to never do that to him again.
And I know you Have to have them in a carrier to go to the vet......But Im so sacred that I will tramatize him...

Its acrylic..I have it on the font porch for when we are out there.
I put some nuts in it & he did go in and get 2 nuts out....but I havent dont it since.

gggrrrr** she had him used to riding in the car and going in public without ANYTHING!!!.....gggrrrrr

any advise would be helpful!!
Thanks,
Patti

skittles had never been in a carrier til i got her. they transported her in her cage in the back of a pickup truck with a blanket over the cage to protect her from the wind.  bugeye i'm just not even gonna get started on that one... anyway. when i got the carrier we didn't have time to get her used to it. i just talked to her sweetly, and put her in (with the whole upper half of my body, lol) and she was fine. she didn't like it, but she still talked to me the whole way to the vet (an hour ride). she did get carsick tho. she still doesn't like the carrier, but she doesn't freak out either. i think they naturally like small dark places, you know, like a nest cavity. marley hates his carrier too. sometimes i have to put him in it when i clean his cage. (on the days when he is determined to attack the wash cloth!) but neither one shows fear when i get out the carriers.

We have the regular carriers, one that you would use for a dog or cat and there is a perch in there.  Everyone pretty much likes the car ride and we have never had a problem with them getting sick.  I know E's Cocoa has gotten car sick a few times.  Maybe a little gingerale or make some ginger tea if you have to go on any car rides.  D will also leave things out when we are introducing something new, like a perch or the carrier, in sight so they can see it for them to get used to before we use it. It really seems to help.

As far as vets maybe TT can give you some advice... weirdo3

I transport mine in a small dog carrier and I put a calcium perch on the grate on the front door. Everyone does well. Bella likes to hold my pinky finger through the grate for reassurance. She is my babyest baby bird after all.  :baby5: Unless the vet treats birds exclusively, I would be afriad of bringing them with a harness and no carrier. All it would take is one big mouthy dog with a stupid owner and it could be a disaster. Safety first.
I had a pit bull go after  me and my 5 pound Toddykins at the vet before. Very scary.

How about trying a dog crate?

“My brother and sister birds, you should praise your Creator and always love him: He gave you feathers for clothes, wings to fly and all other things that you need. My vet is in Macon and she is a certified avian vet. There is no rule about carriers that I know of. Macon is about 80 miles south of Atlanta. If you want contact info send me a private message.
