you know, it's kinda sad. my idea of a great shopping spree is a trip to lowe's for more toy and playgym supplies! lol! we went to town today, and got some wood, some pvc, and some big bolts. not to mention the parts for some more real wood perches. i wish i could start tonite.  handshappy  tomorrow we're gonna make: a new big shower perch with big and small perch attachments, a new playgym for over marley's cage, a new playgym for over twiggy's cage, a new window playgym for the dining room window seat, and we're gonna re-model the playgym/swing over skittles' cage. i can hardly sleep, i feel like a kid just before christmas! oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! <grin>

okay, drum roll, please.....here we go:
the first three are toys. marley flew to me and started playing with the first one before i could even get it hung. used easter egg markers for the colors. some old material leftover from the baby blankets i made my niece a few years ago. the wooden spoons were a real hit with skittles. she spend 15 minutes playing with the first one before i even added material. they are great got pk of 6 for $1.70.  the one with the bells has been rebuilt three times. it's one of twiggy's favorites. she chews the wood down and carries the bells around for a few days, then i gather them up and rebuild it.
next is twiggy's playgym. it only has a couple toys, she gets a little skittish sometimes, so i figured we'd add more later. it has hooks for 4 toys. i hung hers with wire cause she's not much of a climber so i don't have to worry about her getting on top of the 2 X 4. its entirely a different story with the other two...
marley's playgym is very busy just like him. i used sisal twine to hang his, he's a climber but won't chew through the twine. i still have to put the plastic on the ceiling. he likes to pick the popcorn off the roof. brat.
skittles playgym is a re-design, it was already up...half way. she had taken one of the ceiling hooks out so it was hanging by one chain. hers was hung with chain and has the water bottle protectors cause she not only climbs but disassembles! lol! i don't know how long the green clothesline will last. we'll see. i'm still working that one out. she usually can help me find ALL the kinks in my designs! lol!
didn't get around to the shower perch today. the others took a while and of course i had to stop every 20 minutes or so cause one bird or another would come waddling or flying over to me. they are all happily using their new stuff. and i'm done for the nite...except for the cleanup. i have sawdust all over the kitchen floor. i tried to make a few perches and while the hardware i bought is perfect, the only wood i could reach was dead and won't hold the hardware tight enough. but that, too, is for another day. have to go back to work tomorrow, after my mini-vacation - three days off in a row. thank you all for letting me brag.  happy

thank you all <modest curtsy>
axel, i started out just copying some other ones i saw in a bigger version. then i made the first one on the floor. and added to it. and added again but then it didn't work together so i took it apart and redesigned it. once you get started you'll really make progress. and as you surf around the birdie sites you'll see things you want to shamelessly steal. i am a horrible carpenter. my father-in-law always said i hammer like lightning...never hit the same place twice! lol! and then the birds show me my design errors. what started out as a playgym became a swing for skittles. as i type she is swinging it madly side to side as she rams her beak into the water bottle ceiling protector.
wishey, i LOVE lowes (and home depot) and i have more tools than most men i know. my son and i argue over the tools! lol! my dining room doesn't have a table but i do have: a jigsaw, circular saw, two drills (corded and cordless), a shoe box of screwdrivers and wrenches, a shoe box full of drill bits and screw bits, a shoe box with nuts, screws, eye hooks (lowes put all the brass ones on clearance so i bought them out), and about 50lbs of wood! Now, out in the carport i have the heavy duty tools! lol! i imagine my landlord would be a little snarky about the holes in the ceiling but i figure after 3 years here i have paid rent faithfullly, only had to call to get things fixed 3 times, and the people who lived here before put huge holes in the ceiling. AND i can plug the holes with putty if need-be. <grin>
