First, why do my posts keep disappearing? Second, Wanda, my guarenteed girl fid has a very nice BLUE cere today. No wonder her and Waldo haven't been snuggling up. I called that guy and specifically asked if he had any female budgies before I drove the 1 1/2 hours up there. Then all the crap about letting her starve for a week, now she is a he. I will never go to that chop shop again/.

If she is still a baby her cere will be blue until she  matures, at least that is what happened with my 2 late budgie girls.  I had even named one of them Pretty Boy and finally for the last couple years of her life, renamed her birdie.  She may not be snuggling up to Waldo because she is too young yet.  Both of my budgie girls were blue too.

Are you sure? Her cere has been a dark brown until today....I am so confused. First hidden baby finches, now a sexually confused budgie. Maybe I should just raise guppies!  slaph

Yep im positive shes a girl. Boys never have dark brown ceres unless they have mites and the white right around the nares is another girl trait, females ceres change colors. They are brown when in breeding condition (which also explains why shes not cuddly with the boys now, shes not in breeding condition anymore). More than likely her cere will go back and forth between howit looks now and brown many many times :)

I had a guppy tank Debz, those new babies are so teeny all you can see is an eyeball if you are lucky, it was AWESOME and I will never forget the first time I saw them born!  loveuk  I love their tails that is why I stuck with guppies.  Once my first baby was born that was it, i had no time for them, so I let them live out their lifespan then closed up shop.  someday i will have another guppy tank, i really enjoyed it.  I didn't know they lay down on the bottom to sleep! once in a fit of pregnant insomnia, I went out to watch them to make me sleepy and relaxed...I turned on the light and they were all laying on the bottom as if dead! they saw the light and woke up after a little while and started swimming around, and I felt better.

I read that if the bird is anything other than a normal green, the ceres can look any which way.  Stellaluna's has never been pink, always a pearly bluish-purple-tinge of pink, it turned brown lately then a baby pink...white ceres always though.

Below are pictures of different female ceres:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/MonicaNFids/Sexing/Female02.jpg

http://www.birds-online.de/allgemein/fotos/weibchen-galerie19.jpg notice the blue underneath with the white surrounding the nares
(info below is from http://www.backyard-birds.net/articles/budgie.sexing.html)
Female baby budgies have white that show around the top of the nostrils with a bit of blue that shows at the bottom of the cere near the beak. As the female baby becomes older she will develop more white around the beak with a touch of yellowish brown starting to appear around the nostril.

Male baby budgies have a cere that looks pinkish - purple as the baby male becomes older the darker purple the beak comes, then over time the cere turns blue.

I am 99.9% sure She is a she

It was brown..very dark brown now blue and white. I think they do it to me on purpose and laugh behind their little wings. And I have had guppies. They are so cool when they have the babies. I also at one time had a very large pair of Egyptian Mouth Brooders. The mouth brooders were about 6 and 8 inches long. They hold their eggs in their mouth a lot for safety until they hatch. After they hatch, at the slightest sign of danger, all the babies go back and get in mama'a mouth. That was cool to watch...all these little babies going in, then coming out. It was really really neat. Here is a video of a mama collecting her youngins for safe keeping.
