Okay, this isn't the speech you're all waiting for...this is wishy's hubby, taking over the keyboard for a moment.  My love just wanted to share with me this thoughtful gesture from you all.  Now she's wishy-washy, all teary eyed. loveuk  Needless to say I'm very proud of her and how responsible she's been about researching the right bird for her and taking great care of the ones she has.  Thank you all for supporting and encouraging her, and thank's for recognizing her efforts to be the best parront (did I get that right?) she can be.

Wishy's Hubby

I was so touched by what everyone had said on the voting section, that I showed him this morning.  I was unprepared to see that you had chosen the winner, and when I scrolled down to see it was me, and there was the picture of Stellluna, i started getting all weepy and he hi-jacked the keyboard...needless to say, he is such a sweetheart  kiss2  and I'm so glad I picked him. (I went back and stuck a picture in his post of him dressed as a cowboy for my daughter's birthday par-T this year)

He has been working on his paper all weekend and I squeezed in here to use the computer while he was eating breakfast this morning.  I had to get my BP fix!!

ok, ok, here goes....

I am really touched that you think I am something special, I feel so "minor league" when it comes to parrots, as you guys have the "big guys" and have dealt with so much.  I have learned so much from you, and I found as I read more books and learned from anecdotal experience (from you) more, I found myself knowing what to do.  I now catch myself at pet stores answering questions to fellow bird-gazers about the best perch for this bird or the best toys for that bird...and altering my body language around the cages as as not to scare the little bird inside.  I read more and more on animal intelligence and proving what I knew in my heart all along; that these animals have souls and feelings, and rights...it was good to be validated for what I was teased for as a kid.  I still feel the trepidation of getting my bird, like a mom-to-be that i am still "not ready" and I have to learn this and that first.  Will I totally mess up any mash I make and they will refuse to eat it? will I screw up on sprouting and not be able to get it right? will I unknowingly scare the crap out of the bird or unwittingly train it to do a behavior that will drive my family batty?
OR will it be the best experience ever and I will sit here and go "why didn't I do this years ago?"

I am glad I waited, because I wouldn't have had you guys to help me with silly questions and serious issues, and be excited for me (and for a while you were the only ones).  I have felt so isolated having to work and be at home most of the time, and now I feel I have a mental lifeline to the "outside world" and it has saved my sanity more than once! I have made friends here that I will treasure for always. I talk about you guys at home like the work friends my hubby talks about at home ("so-and-so said something so funny today!"), and I feel so lucky to have you guys, and to be a member here.

..now before I completely embarrass myself by getting all blubbery, I should close.

I love you guys  grouphug

Wishy

(truly Squishy Wishy right now Debz because you're going to have to wring me out   sweaten *happy tears)

P.S. please excuse his crazy "morning look"

Thank you Wishy's hubby for posting here, we love her too and think she is pretty special.

Wishy I have enjoyed getting to know you over the past year and enjoy "talking" to you, you have done a great job with your birds and I can understand your worries about getting your next bird but remember we all make mistakes...still do so dont be so hard on yourself. When the time is right and you are ready, you will know...no pressure and no hurry.
Congrats on the spotlight you really do deserve it  weirdo3
