Birds body temperatures fall in the range of 99.8 - 110.3 degrees, somewhat higher than mammals at 96.8 - 102.2 degrees and humans at 98.6 degrees.

i was surprised when I learned this, i always thought they had such frail little bodies they would run cold...then the first time I held Stellaluna, I was amazed at her bare feet, they were so WARM... hotfoot! dogs run warm too, I think 100 -101 is normal for them, they make great heating pads! LOL!

They have rapid heartbeats, fast metabolism = more body heat.
