My friend's CAG flew away last Friday morning when his wife brought him out to the garden for his usual morning jaunt. She was tending to the garden while ToTo, their CAG was perched nearby on his stand as usual.  Suddenly, she heard crows calling and ToTo just took flight, as though following the crows.  She frantically called out to him, and tried to chase after ToTo, but he flew too high and fast, and was soon out of sight.

She called her husband (my friend) in the office in panic and was obviously distressed, and close to tears.  Luckily my friend got back from an out of state trip earlier in the morning, and rushed home to help find ToTo.  For almost 2 hours, they looked all over the housing area, asking everyone they met about ToTo, but to no avail.

Finally, my friend had to stop to get back to the office, but his poor wife continued searching.  Obviously, she was very distressed (ToTo is extremely close to her).  She called her husband later in the day, and said she could not find him despite searching all over, including nearby housing areas.

Meanwhile, my friend designed and printed in the office copier A4 sized flyers with ToTo's picture with an appeal to anyone to call them with info on the bird.  That night, they distributed about 600 flyers all over the area.  They continued to look for him throughout the night, until almost 1am. But no luck.

His wife could not sleep, and cried the whole night.  My friend was distressed for both his wife and the bird. He was afraid ToTo could not survive on his own as he was hand raised from young.

The next morning, a nearby resident responded to their flyers and text them that ToTo landed on her porch at 12pm Friday, but he flew away to a nearby house.  They rushed there but could not find him.  They continued the search for whole morning with negative result.

On Sunday  morning, a little girl called, and asked my friend what his bird looked like.  He could hear ToTo calling "mummy. mummy" in the background. Her maid rescued him under their kitchen cabinet when he was hiding from some dogs the night before. They lived just 15 houses away.
They dashed there, and when ToTo saw his wife, he called out "mummy, mummy" non-stop. His wife was ecstatic, and hugged ToTo.

My friend happily rewarded both the little girl, and their maid. My friend couldn't believe his luck that he could recover his CAG after it flew away.

BTW his CAG was wing clipped a year ago. They never realized the feathers had grown a lot since then.

Oh my gosh!   Shocked
I am so glad that they found To To!  I know the heartache of a lost pet and am glad they found him safe.  Maybe you can show them KoKo's harness and maybe they can try one out for safety.
I am so glad things turned out the way they did!

My friend suspects Toto was searching for his way home. He flew away opposite direction of his house and disappeared into thin air but was found 15 houses away 2 days later. That means Toto turned back looking for his home.

I have bought him a harness.

What a story! Embarrassed  I am glad ToTo was safely returned to his Mummy!  I hope now they will consider maybe a harness like Koko or more frequent wing trims.     I am so happy this turned out ok for everyone and thanks for sharing this Smiley
