Now for the other record....I know D will not be standing there "supervising", I will be lucky to get in there to do anything.  We will all have to talk when we get there and form a plan of action.  Can't wait!

I'm glad you get to go, I'm sure the girls will need the help but I'm just worried once you start handling the macaws you'll be wanting one! Once you go macaw you never go back!  ;D

I am sure all will go well, and the good thing is we have potential homes for these 2 already, people who are on our waiting list, so hopefully they wont be here long ;)

Well Hell.....we were done in under an hour!, no blood, all phalanges intact!
Nice neighborhood, nice house, nice guy.  D and I got there early so I wanted to go in and see what we were in store for.  The house was pretty quiet.  So then we went to meet "Poppy" (GW) and "Stanley" (BG).  I found out that Poppy prefers men and had a previous owner that kept her in the closet. She was quite active talking and throwing her food bowl around.  Her cage is old as you can see in the photos.  Stanley prefers women as the guy told us anyways.  He was a little more shy and my worry with him which I know will get taken care of is his toenails....he has some that are like cork screws!  We went with Stanley first.  Jenn got him to basically step up onto a perch I brought, took a few trys, got him half way out and we toweled him and he went easily into the crate.  Poppy came right out of her cage on a mission!  She didn't want to cooperate too much.  We got her to walk down the side of the cage and she looked like she was heading right for the crate but made a get away and after a few attempts got her toweled and into the crate.  Successful rescue!  The guys daughter had wanted the Tiels so they were already with her.  I did not find the conditions deplorable, very dusty and things need a very good cleaning.  The man was very nice and told me he had previously had them in the paper but got some crazies over to see them...one being someone in a traveling circus show of some sort.  I assured them that they would be in very good hands.  He said good bye to them while we were finishing up getting the cages loaded.  BTW....Stanley's favorite toy is the red telephone that talks.  I sat with him and played with it with him and also spent time talking to Poppy while they were getting the cages broken down.  Stanley got his corkscrew nails caught in the grate of the carrier....not stuck to where he got scared and I told him he would soon get a manicure and his beak maybe, it looks pretty long to me.
So although I do not have experience with the great Macaws, in my opinion I think they will be great companions to the right lucky parront.  I think Stanley will be easier to re-train, Poppy a bit more time and considering her previous background.  They weren't even very loud will all of us there and all the commotion going on.  Poppy was loudest when we tried to crate her, she is the talker.  I didn't hear much out of Stanley.  They are both beautiful and I really liked Stanley.  ;)
We were glad to be able to have helped in this and look forward to hearing of their progress.  Chance please let me know about Stanley's nails!!!!!   :-\
It was a great experience and Jenn and her husband are also great people and we were glad to have met them!!!
Now for the beauties......
