You might as well make the move and upgrade to a real parrot.

None of us would call you a fool, Loonie!  We have all been there and done that.  I found myself getting misty-eyed over that poor bird too and I am too far away to help him.  Let us know! :)

Ohhhhhh Loonie!  Please let us know what happens!!!!  Either way you are no fool!  Kudos to you for at least trying and going to spend some time with him.  Taking the effort to at least think about it and possibly helping him out makes a big difference.  Wish I was there to go with you!!!!!!

Well, we're back.  GAve him some grapes, got bit, told P I really liked him but was scared to death of him [the lungeing!] , went back and kept on talking to him, walked away, he started yelling Mama! :'(  Maybe that's something he says anyway, who knows?

Offered to take the bird and buy the cage [on time] , he said he had to think some more about it, as we were riding away, turned around and went back and offered to take the old cage and clean it up and pay on a new one and not take the new cage until paid for, he said that wasn't it, he just hadn't made up his mind yet.

A.}  He already said he wouldn't sell him, he just wanted him to go to a good home.

B.]  He said if anyone got him, I would.

C.]  I mean, if he is holding out for somebody with more spare time and more experience, it would not hurt my feelings, really it would not.

D.]  I have been so wishy washy maybe he wants to make sure I really want him before I take him.  We all know how my work schedule is, sometimes.

E.]  He has only had him 2 days.

I just don't know what to think.  Yeah, I do.  I just don't want him to end up like Clyde and Pearly, who won't let me near them with my hands, and won't come out even when given the chance.  Yes, I feel inadequate where he is concerned...but...."Mama!".......... :'(

This guy is full of BS!  Period!  Any bird needing to be rescued would not be this way.  He owns a store that sells birds, correct?  I said my peace!

Well, he said he would give him to me, I Don't know.  IF it was meant to be it will be.  If someone good came along to take him, it would not hurt my feelings.  ACtually it would be relief if you know what I mean.  I Really don't have a lot of spare time, I Would have to get up and get away from this computer!  Which I really do spend too much time on this thing, but geez, I'm sooo tired!

HE has been very good to us over the years, extending us credit and stuff like that.  I owe him a pretty piece of money right now  for the cockatiel and cage I just bought.

I just need to get on with my life, and what will be, will be.  Why do I feel so bad, though?

Don’t be intimidated by the lunging…can you imagine how scared that poor bird is, poor thing. Beside IF you do take this bird home you know that it will take time to relax and bond to you.
You are not a fool, I have to stay out of pet stores because I want to take them all home, but like "D" has said before…you can’t save them all. As hard that pill is to swallow its true.

Like I suggested before do you know of anyone else that might be interested? Call them and have them go over & check it out.

I hope no one is mad at this guy.  I have dealt with his store for years, and I know pretty much where he is coming from.  He may want to keep the bird himself .  HE said he would not try to sell him.  He also said if anybody else gets him it would be me.

THAt being said, if someone else were to come along that would give him an excellent home, I believe he would ask me first.  HE knew I went up there at the insistance of my daughter, who likes the bird, too.  We of course had all the kids there, and he has heard me say several times in the past that I can't think straight with all of them there.  Either I have forgotten something or whatever.  So I think it is a way to let me think it over before I decide anything.

Also, I want everyone to know that the bird is safe there, in a nice, clean cage, has good food and water, and is not being mistreated in any way.  His feet should heal now that he has this better environment.

IN all the years I have been going in there, I Have never seen any cages dirty, and have always seen the food and water filled.  I have never myself, or ever heard of from anyone else, anyone getting a sick bird from him, unlike some chain stores we hear about.  All of the animals are well taken care of and healthy.  I have always had the utmost faith in the health of any pet that came from there.

THe situation tugged on the old heartstrings, though.

This little bird will have a home to come to if he needs it.  That is all I can offer.

We shall just have to see how things turn out.

I can see your heartstrings tugging on you from here, it makes me sad that you are so sad about this Amazon...you need big hugs! Try not to sell yourself short on your ability to bond with the parrots in your care...you're doing better than you give yourself credit for  AddEmoticons04239 I know that your home would be a great one for this guy and if it's meant to be it will be. It sounds like you and the store owner know each other well and I'm sure he meant what he told you. It may be that he is waiting and giving the Amazon some time to adjust and see his full personality before letting him go to anyone to better gauge what type of home would be best for him. You're doing all you can to give him a second chance and whether he ends up a part of your family or not you have made a difference just by trying!
