Vendors of pet birds like parrots and mynahs, abound along the Habarana-Trinco road, the public complains. Although Habarana police had arrested some men, the business still flourishes, the villagers say.

One M. B. Kulatunga from Degampathaha said timber hauling and killing of wild animals including elephants is not new with the backing of some officials of the Forest Department and police.

Only major incidents came into light.In Polattawa in Sigiriya there are some 17 acres of land which comes under Sigiriya preservation - fully cleared and cultivated. This is allegedly owned by a former AGA of Dambulla. They go unnoticed.
