I just want to say thanks to everybody. SCBR and BP are really my homes away from home. What a great bunch of folks we have here. I have laughed a lot, learned a lot, and have met some of the nicest people I have ever had the extreme good fortune to meet. You all deserve to take a bow...its not one or 2 of us that make this place so great, its all of us. AddEmoticons04239
There is one thing I want to straighten out though...... Mod Eric said something the other day about some of us (Mar and myself) being a bit long in the tooth. Well, I am probably going to break a rule here, but I am posting my pic so Eric can see there is some hotness in the old girl yet. Eric, eat your heart out.....

Wow, nice pic Jadesmom. Congrats to you both. It couldn't have happened to 2 nicer people. I am fortunate to have had the pleasure of meeting you both and am very happy for that. Now get on your soapboxes and tell us all about yourselves.

Well, I thought a picture is worth a thousand words, but here goes. I'm a young 53 and mom to 3 kids I admit too! LOL Travis was 30 in January, Tyler will be 19 in Nov. And Hayley just turned 18 on the 14th.
I have been married almost 5 years to my husband Bruce. He is a manager at Lowe's and I  have been a LPN for over 30 years. I've done it all, hospital, skilled, pediatrics home care, administrative, assisted living, medical transport, adult care, and corrections. I am at the Ladies Home, a 21 bed adult care,  about 10 years, as Health Care Coordinator and do night supervisor at Loretto., a 120 bed skilled and rehab facility. Its a nice mix.
I guess my favorite is working with the dementia folks. They are just so sweet and endearing. And I hope when I reach their point, someone is as kind to me as I try to be with them.
Bruce and I like to travel and love to gamble. We had a honeymoon in Vegas which was a hoot, and I took my first plane ride there during Hurricane Andrew...talk about scared. We also  go to Atlantic City a couple times a year. Him and I have been on a lot of trips, Washington DC, Florida, Pa., North Carolina, and all over New York and this end of Canada. Our next adventure is Gettysburg, and are seriously considering Aruba when hurricane season is over.
I have 2 brothers , one I don't see much and my other brother is a catholic priest and an attorney. He is a great guy and a whole lot of fun. I also have a sister who I keep in contact with. I have one niece, Coreen, who I am close to.
I am so glad that I wandered over to SCBR and was lead over here. I love both sites and have met so many kind and wonderful people. I have learned a whole bunch from all of you.
Currently, we have Toddykins, my greatest love, a "bubble eyed rat dog" to my husband, but a pomeranian to evey one else. Todd's nickname at the groomers is "The black pirahna" if that tells you anything, Billy, a mini sch-nazi as we call him, 2 goldfish, Hitler (due to his little square mustache) , and Spot, 2 quakers, Jade and Buddy (who I got at SCBR), and John and Mary  Meeper - a pair of zebra finches. Mary also came to me from SCBR. And I have a new addition coming soon. A baby conure. Well, thats it for me, I turn th efloor over to Mar. Mar....take it away!

Well lets see.....I have been a certified Dialysis nurse for 11 years (LPN) and have also done some years in nursing homes and private duty.  I am also still a licensed cosmetologist and at one time worked minutes away from Chance.  Prior to that I also did make up and worked with a photographer.

I have 2 step-children, one being mod Eric here and along with D and our fids we have our min pin Zeus.  As most know here my/our love of parrots began when I saw a rose breasted Too in a pet store.  From there I began researching parrots and that is how I found out about the Senegal and found my Kito and traveled to Ohio to get him.  In my research that is how I found out about rescues and then found Chance.

We haven't done much traveling in the past few years but I have been to California, Vegas, Georgia , Arizona & Mexico.  My step dad is Canadian and when I was still in my teens I lived with my mom and step dad in Calgary Alberta for about a year.

After we started our flock is when D started to make our website.  We belonged to another forum then and then he started our own.  I wouldn't trade BP or SCBR for any thing.  We have gotten to know so many great people who share the same love.  You are always there for advice and encouragement which we have all needed at one time or another.  I am thankful to everyone here and at SCBR.  In a time of need wether bird related or not someone has always been there for me.  Thanks to everyone.

One other thing I spend my "free time" in is crafts.  Jewelry making, crocheting, whatever it be and I love to try things I haven't tried before.
I love and am thankful for our wonderful feathered family here!  And thank you for the spot light with Jades!
