broken wing i must say you and your wife have hearts of gold. you take care of the birds as if they are children and then when it is time to let them go you know when is best and even if it breaks your heart you know it is the best. i think you are a heaven sent! geez wish i had known you needed worms i was in mn yesterday and i have a plastic container with like 30 worms or so in it. i would have given them to you. we find worms when we can here. so if you still have the little rockin when i am there next month i will bring you a bunch! keep up the good work***big hugs*** AddEmoticons04239

Aww, I bet the day he learns to fly will be like your child learning how to ride a bike for the first time.  :-* You guys are doing such a fantastic job with him! I love those pictures of him eating in his cage! I'm glad he's eating on his own. Have you added the sod to the cage yet?

Thank you all for your kind replies, they mean very much to me and my mate.
Worms are very hard to come by here...guess I could hit the golf parks but the time...just don't have the time...
Sod, what sod?...my mate was outside hanging cloths to dry and came back in the house saying...we have no grass...we need rain here badly...our grass is brown...water ban....drier than a pop corn fart here...
The sod is going to be a issue....again...I could find some green grass somewhere but finding the time...
Have another heart stress test today...heart and lung...
Rain....Rain....we need it so badly here....
Rockin is our Baby....we have released many little ones back unto mothers care here...have never got used to the feeling....Rockin will do fine....must believe that....
Take Care

I sat Rockin and the cage outside today and left the cage door open.
Rockin came out flew to the deck then flew to me...not good so far.
Another Robin appeared, seemed to attack little Rockin...not good either...
I placed Rockin on the ground for awhile...he/she foraged and ate a few things...
Then flew to the deck and back to the cage....

This one is going to be ruff....

In flight to the top of the picture

The full grown Robin attacked Rockin then flew away.

Rockin will be taken outside each day and set free....being free and making that choice will be up to Rockin...

Oh my Rockin Robin!  Arty, what will happen if Rockin will not leave?  He is doing so well, I hope he will decide to go and live with the other Robin's and not take any bully-ing from others.  I just love his updates!

Thanks for the update..  I think little by little each day Rockin will gain more courage etc..  You are doing the right things and in his own time will choose to be free :)

Aww, I wonder how long it'll take for Rockin to leave the "nest"? I agree with Dad, in that he'll probably gain more courage each day until he finally decides to go free. That'll be a day of happiness!

Do you think he might have imprinted on you as he was so little when you found him, or was he past this stage. I like to learn and then I file it all away in my head if I ever need it again. Maybe BW, he just loves you as much as you love him. He is the sweetest little guy. You have done an outstanding job.

The difference between kids and parrots is that it's funny when a parrot talks back.

I agree, its will take some time but the wild will call...
When on the ground I lay out some worms and Rockin searches for them...finds them to..hehehehe
I think all will go okay...just a matter of time...
Just a little more flight training and I think the confidence level will peak and one day...he/she will fly off.
Not long ago a male squirrel came from across the street, tore up a nest and killed a baby squirrel, the momma took the other baby's and ran, strange things happen in the wild...all for a reason....keeps everything in check...
One has to believe within ones heart...when Rockin does leave...all will be fine...
Update soon...

hard part is raising a single bird, they end up looking to you, as their flock, and makes release much harder.

Well today didn't get any better.
Rockin is flying better, so I walked further away and here he/she comes just to be closer.
landed on top the garage, but flew to me shortly after.
I tried to dig up worms today...found 3.
$3.75 per dozen here...so Rockin is costing us...I don't mind...but Rose isn't that happy..
Anyways...Rockin isn't ready yet...the wild will call...its just a matter of time.

Rockin is getting color, those pretty little fawn dots are disapearing, he/she is growing fast.
Eating 10-12 worms per day...
Soon....he/she will leave me....
