I am so upset over the shelter and want to help so bad. In my desperation, I emailed Oprah to beg them to do a show about Barb and the rescue. If we all sent them an email, maybe they would just listen. Go to oprah.com.   search for contact, and there are email links. Thanks guys.
Here's what I sent

Dear Oprah and company,
I live in Oswego, NY and found a parrot on petfinder.com up for adoption . My Buddy,a quaker parrot,  was at Second Chance BIrd Rescue in Rochester, NY. Since my adoption, my eyes have really been opened up to the plight of parrots in the USA.
I  just found out this morning the rescue is in dire financial need and is in danger of closing.
Barb Vagg  who runs the rescue has devoted her life to unwanted and abused castoffs that no else wants. She has poured her heart and soul into the rescue, and has even contracted a lung disease due to all her years working with some very ill birds.
She had a very special African Grey, Braveheart, who's previous owner burnt his feet off in a drunken rage one night. Then there is Jack, a beautiful macaw who's previous owner savagely twisted, broke,  and shattered both his wings. He was a breeder bird, and his owner didn't want him flying.
She has just spent hundreds of dollars on Louie, a grey with an awful seizure condition. And Nemo just went to the Rainbow Bridge( passed away) He had an issue with his crop in his belly. It would fill with air and someone took it upon themselves to continually poke holes in him with an unsterile pin to let the air out., Nemo was a beautiful cockatoo. He just died due to a huge necrotic ulcer on his belly from this treatment.
Parrots are often overlooked in the rescue and help given to homeless and abused animals. Dom DeLuise , rest  his soul, was a "parront" and was well known in bird circles for his love of Charlie, his caique. A video of him and Charlie is ready available on line.
I am begging you to please consider doing a story about parrots in general, and Second Chance Bird Rescue in particular. She is in desperate need of help. I turn to you Oprah for help. Please visit the website  www.secondchancebirdrescue.com and read the stories of the sanctuary birds. I guarantee you, it will break your heart.
Please help us get the word out. If Barb doesn't have someone lend a hand soon, she will be forced to close. And the humane society now recommends euthanasia for unwanted parrots.
We take these beautiful creatures out of the wild, place them at our control and mercy, then abuse and neglect and subject them to just unbelievable cruelty.
The world would be a much harsher, colder place without Barb and Second Chance Bird rescue.
HELP us Oprah. We need you.
Thank you so much,
Mary Ann Wise

J, you need to edit the website for SCBR......it is spelled wrong.  I could probably get in it and do it but without D here I don't want to mess anything up.

Ok, I finally got it, damn character counts  >:( I had to cut the editorial down big time! Here is what I was able to send.

Second Chance Bird Rescue in Rochester, New York is suffering.Barb runs the rescue for abused and neglected parrots. She can be found by a parrots side throughout the day. Barb she runs the rescue all an effort to rehabilitate parrots due to neglectful or abusive owners. Every bird is shown love and compassion while they are getting their second chance. With all the love and compassion that Barb has given to the birds in her care it has left her ill with Bird Keepers Lung, even though this disease may one day claim her life she does not let it stop her. When she takes in a rescue she asks not why, she just says yes and gives the parrot a second chance at life. After living a life of hardships it must be wonderful for a parrot that arrives at SCBR for a new start that comes with hope, love and trust. Today Barb is struggling to keep SCBR running. Donations are no longer coming through the door. Without donations coming in funds are running very low. Barb truly is a hero; she puts so much of herself into SCBR. If there is a bird in need, she is there. She goes about her lifes mission of saving parrots no matter the circumstance. Her heart, determination, loyalty and understanding for these parrots never falters, she wouldnt have it any other way. Her struggles to keep SCBR going are often almost too much to bear, and yet she is right there steady as ever. Her monthly expenses to keep the birds happy and healthy are ever in the forefront. Barb puts so much of herself into rescuing these birds and does not ask anything in return. SCBR is in dire need of some funding. If things keep going the way they are the doors may close. This will be a sad fate indeed and these birds will have no one else to turn to. Countless birds are turned over to rescues each year, you can be sure there will be more coming through the doors of Second Chance Bird Rescue this year. If they are to be assured a happy, safe home the doors of SCBR must remain open.

My letter;

Dear Miss Oprah & friends,
I am writing on behalf of Second Chance Bird Rescue located in Rochester N.Y.  It is single handedly run by one woman resurrected in memory of her grandfather who showed her the wonderful world of birds.  It is the only bird rescue in our area.  "Chance" as she is know by unconditionally takes in and loves abused, unwanted and neglected birds and shows them what it is like to be in a safe and warm environment.  Some may be able to be adopted but only to the right homes, others will live with her forever.  Second Chance is a non-profit organization and is in dire needs.  Often donations are non-existent and money comes out of her own pocket.  Day after day she is with them, they are shown love, play and she can tell you who is who and their story.  Many may not be there had their previous owners been educated.  There is much work in owning a parrot.  Our flock consists of 13 and we wouldn't trade the loudness, food flung around or the occasional nip for anything.  We are on a crusade to help SCBR from hard times and to not close their doors.  She needs help, the parrots need help.  If this email reaches out to at least one I will have at least educated someone on this plea and opened an eye on what SCBR is all about.  Parrot abuse and neglect is out there.  Chance is their angel and that angel needs some more wings and halos to help.  I hope you will visit her site and at least check out the memory page of "BraveHeart" the most courageous parrot there ever was.  Love has no bounds, whether you have feathers or not, toes or wings she loves them all and they are safe and deserve a "second chance."  www.secondchancebirdrescue.com.  Thank you, I hope someone will hear our prayers

Dear Oprah & Staff,
First I want to thank you for taking the time to read these letters I’m sure get hundreds if not thousands of requests for help, sorry here is one more. I am writing on behalf of Barb Vagg and The Second Chance Bird Rescue in Rochester New York. This rescue takes in unwanted, abused or neglected birds and parrots and give them a second chance at life and a second chance to find a loving forever home. The first thing you see when you click on the website is a picture of Braveheart, this birds feet were burnt off by his previous owner one evening in a drunken rage and there is Jack he is a wild-caught male Green Wing Macaw of unknown age.  His wings were broken by a breeder to prevent him from flying. These are just two of hundreds of stories of the birds at the rescue; many of the birds can not be adopted out due to medical or behavioral issues. Please take a minute and look at the website: www.secondchancebirdrescue.com
Due to the tough times many of us are having and with the way the economy has been donations to the shelter have dropped to almost nothing. Barb is running out of time and money, she needs help right away, she was too proud to ask her friends until it was almost too late, she has been using her own money to feed the birds but now the rent is due, bills need to be paid and she has nowhere to turn for help. Barb also suffers from bird keeper’s lung but that has not stopped her from going in everyday and caring for the hundreds of birds she is solely responsible for. She does have some volunteers but for the most part it’s a one woman show. And this woman needs some help.
I hope Oprah will consider doing a show on parrots and their plight this is only one of thousands of rescues in the United States, so many stories are done about dogs…why doesn’t anyone talk about the parrots that need help?
Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
