Well this still doesnt seem real but after reading a desperate sounding post last Wednesday from a couple not too far away from me, wanting a new home for their grey, we chatted on the phone, and he and his wife came for a visit the next day, and decide to bite the bullet and give their grey a fresh start and the chance of a more permanent home x

The man (Gary) started developing lung problems four years ago, and now has to wear a respirator mask when around birds, he tried everything to live with his grey but to no avail, so the poor little mite has been in four different homes in four years, we are the fifth and hopefully the last. His last foster home the woman decided she had had enough of the noise and mess, after two years, hardly a long time is it? So off he went to what is called his holiday home, but he couldn't settle with all the noise of the other birds and big dogs too, so Gary was desperate to get him out of there. It's been a bit of a whirl wind, but I think we are getting there and he seems quite settled. He enjoys tv and is so quiet when it is on, meet Xavier who will be 15 years in July

Awww, congrats on your new addition Jules! I think Xavier has just found his perfect home  :okay:

I am sure he will settle well with you and he will soon adjust and become a happy little chappy again  handshappy

Hows Jasper coping with a new addition to the flock?

Thankyou, Wendy and Terri. We're doing good so far, Jasper is behaving and following Xavier around, which he doesn't really like but he hasn't tried to hurt Jasper or she him. The only time I have to be careful is when they're both sitting with me, Jasper won't let me touch her, really odd but if I just let them both sit on my knee without touching they're fine  loco6

I really hope things will carry on like this and maybe improve a little more, its early days but he already let's me tickle his head and beak. I'm looking at Xavier being here as more long term foster, as he will always be Gary's grey (he is buying the food, apart from fresh that is, and says he will continue to pay insurance for Xavier, so that's a big help and weight off my mind) and God forbid it doesn't work out I know he won't be far from Gary's watchful eye. He keeps in touch and regularly texts me to ask how Xavier is doing, which I'm more than happy to tell him Xaviers daily adventures  :bounce:

Well Xavier is in his fourth week, and he and Jasper are a little closer, though he's still a bit wary. He gets very soppy with me, and I have to return him to his cage to calm down, as he won't leave me alone, Jasper doesn't seem to care, even when I shout help  hmm

Other than that and him biting Tony if I don't watch him, he is a pleasure. I just hope he doesn't start biting me when spring is done as I've heard males can be aggressive in the months leading up to spring and afterwards, is this right or are some birds different? :)

Oh how wonderful that Jasper and you have a new friend!!!!  :ys:  hugu

Xavier sounds like he will settle into being a right nice Grey once he gets his priorities straight & decides he is not going to be sent away to yet another strange home.  I so understand the original owner's health issues & the need to re-home Xavier. Glad he found a super wonderful sweet person who will love him to pieces. And Jasper may be thinking, "Wow, he's a ~~*HUNK*~~  drool stupid1  :hehe:

Oh dear, how is Codie now?

Xavier is still being a big softy, and he and Jasper have been beaking yesterday afternoon and the night before. They are getting on well, I hope it doesn't change. Can't wait for better weather, its been freezing today like we've gone back a few months  dknow

The photos a bit dark and blurred for some reason, this is Jasper and Xavier playing and beaking   clap
