Hi all. I've been gone for quite a while but I'm back now. :)

I've got a behavior question. I have 2 gccs, Baby and Gwennie. They are 7 and 6 respectively and I've had them since they were about 4 months old. About 2 years ago I changed jobs and started working nights. They've both settled into the routine really well all things considered. I've got their uva/uvb lights and they're both very healthy and for the most part, happy.

About 3 months ago though, Baby started getting aggressive about me being near their cages. Usually he's a very even tempered and sweet bird but now if I go into the bird room and do anything, he'll launch himself off the cages at me and bites the holy heck out of me when he lands. They're out all the time when I'm home and when not around the cages they're both big sweeties. Gwen is not doing this, just Baby.

Anyone have any ideas about what to do to make him stop?

Baby could possibly be hormonal at the moment? This behaviour is very common in a hormonal bird  cry

I have a YC Amazon who is going through the same thing at the moment. He is also launching himself at the cage and trying to bite me at every opportunity.

If this is the case with Baby, it will pass after a while. While Codie is like this, I just let him do his own thing and steer clear of him if I can.

It is good to see you back  Do you have any pics for us?

I'm not sure if it's hormones or not. Do they normally get hormonal in December? Mine usually both get cranky about late Feb or March.
Hmm I do have a uvb light on them while I'm at work. I wonder if it's on too long. Maybe it's artificially induced hormones?

I do have a few pics. I just got a new fid yesterday so I'll add his too. He's a Senegal that I hand fed when I worked at Petco.

Here's one of Baby

Here's Gwennie being tough

And here's the new fid, Ozzy

Just wondering how things are with Baby, Gwennie and Ozzy?

I know some birds become cage aggressive/possessive, and their things, toys etc. How long do you have the light on for?

Hopefully this phase will pass x
