It gets dark here in NY early . Which makes my birds very sleepy and not very active. So Dave decided to put in a new lighting system for them . WOW !! What a difference. Everyones happier and Porchia  even started letting some of here feathers grow back in. Here she is at my work . I thought since she seemed happier she would like the attention. I dont think shes ever been around people like this, she was a cage bound bird . Its taken a year to get her to open up.So maybe this lighting might be an answer for some plucking birds.

It's a great idea! I copied a link in case people are interested, it's long, but it is EXTREMELY important that people use the correct lighting if they want to install this type of lighting.

Porchia looks great Terri  thumb I have often thought about getting lighting, but have always worried he will pull it off the cage, or get some sort of shock  :faint: I will defo look into it I think as Codie  always seems sad in the darker days :(

Are these the UV lights especially for birds? I have one for Jasper, been using it for years and it really does make a difference, not just for the sunshine factor, vitamin d etc, apparently they do see things literally in a different light, as it adds more colour to their world. If you don't have your birds outside alot, especially in winter, these lights are a must  thumb

Wendy you can get the long tube lights too, as well as the bulbs, which can fit into your ceiling light fitting, so should be safe out of a little beaks way xxx
