Our neighbors had an unattended fire going. It was windy. We were in town when it started. When we got home, half our property was up in flames and it was moving towards our house. We put all the tiels and the parakeet into a cage and carried it out to the car. The door of the cage somehow came open and four tiels and the parakeet got loose. This was yesterday. We saw Bloke but he wouldn't come down. We put a familiar cage with food and water in it outside. As it was getting dark we heard two more. They were hoarse, probably from smoke inhalation. We went to bed. By today we had to work all day but walked around calling for an hour after work -- until it started getting dark. I will be going back out in the morning after my bus route and call again. Needless to say, I'm heartbroken. My neighbor hasn't heard Bloke since she went to bed last night.

Get out in the open and call. Stay away from buildings and trees and bushes. They will NOT come down if even a wire is between you and them.  My heart is breaking for you. Good luck!

Thank you all. It is hard to not be around trees as I live in the country. They are everywhere. I've walked a mile in each direction and they are not answering me. I've even asked a herd of cows if they had seen any parrots. They just looked at me. I'm miserable. Can't stop crying.

I really sorry to hear this Debra, when I had some birds get loose I used my other birds to call them back.i was told once by a top uk to use this method as it encourages the birds to stay local. And gives you a chance of catching them I have used this method twice and it has worked.
I just put my other birds out in the garden and sat and listened with one bird it took nearly two weeks before we caught her but it seemed to work. This just an suggestion and wish you all the luck.
