Thought I'd add a few update photos of Kachina Raye since he's been home a little over a week. He decided to come out & play on the portable perch yesterday morning while I fixed the other birds breakfast. He still won't let me touch or hold him, but he is coming around. He is coming close when I am in his enclosure and is giving me a softer look rather than those stares he had in the beginning like daggers were shooting out of his eyes for taking him form his comfortable home & Mommy!

I may be a bit weird~~OK, don't answer that one~~but I just love his widdle stubby toe-ettes.

A few more photos from yesterday's outing~~

To watch Kachina use his widdle toes is amazing. He squeezes things & wraps them around things like if they were actual fingers.  hugu

I took a couple of short videos of him scratching his head, but I will never be able to get them uploaded with my slow internet.

Thanks ladies!!  hugu Yes Wendy, he can grab perches and wire for climbing like we grasp things with the palms of our hands. It is  so  neat to see those stubby widdle tootsies grasping. loveuk

Terri, he makes about the same sounding noises that Roscoe & Angel do. Much like a Blue & Gold. He does squawk about medium volume to theirs when he wants something.  :hehe2: He does the usual macaw honk if he is upset with me having to pick him up off the floor when he decides he doesn't want to stay on the play perch. But basically  he is a quiet boy most of the day.

One thing he does not do yet is attempt to talk. Not a peep of a word has been muttered by him and he will be 7 months old the last day of this month. I find that odd for a macaw even tho I know some take longer. But most of the smaller species of macaw will make some attempts at forming words before their 1st birthday.  confused

Ruby Jewel  being a Green Wing didn't speak clearly and didn't jabber as much as Roscoe & Angel. But she did make efforts to say things. Maybe he just doesn't  have anything to say to me?  dknow If he doesn't learn something  from having to listen to my chatty flock, then he I don't  have a clue what's up with him!  think sad8

Can you scratch his head yet? The ones that really talk in my house have been in neglected situations . I think they were desperate for attention. The rest of our quiet birds must just be content
