On April 4th at 10am Lacey will officially have found her forever home! Yes that is our adoption date and time that the personal from the rescue will arrive (9-10) to go over the final contract. That being said she fits in just fine here she has her moments but who doesn't right?!

I have asked the rescue to keep me in mind if they ever get a Citron or Major Mitchells (yes I dream big) in and they informed me they dont often get Citrons have never had a Leadbetters but they are getting a sulfur crested and asked would I be interested in meeting her. And all that flashes into my mind aside from "they are stunning" is a certain member on here telling me if she didn't know her Sulfter for yrs before adopting it she would have never taken it in.. Advice anyone all the reading wont help me with this one I dont think. Just how different can they be noise wise?

That certain member would have been me, lol.  ;D The reason I had stated that was because I did have the chance to own a lesser sulphur crested 'too for about a year before I ever met Wesley (I rehomed him in 2005 with a rescue in Georgia). His name was Casey, and he was a holy terror. I was informed before taking him in that he had been abused and preferred women, but all that did not prepare me for his aggressiveness. He bit me several times, HARD, and I remember that the worse bites always came if I was trying to put him in his cage. He would also literally CHASE my brother and dad to try to attack them. I remember thinking to myself that I would never, ever own another cockatoo.

Well, of course that is not the case, lol. But yes, I knew Wesley for several years, as well as her former owner and I knew what I was gettting into. That is the key I think, knowing what to expect. And you have done great with Lacey, and sulphurs are not nearly as dependent on their owners as U2s, although Wesley does take alot of my time. But she is content to play for a while by herself, right now she is happily munching a coconut toy that she was able to yank off onto her cage floor (she really would rather have foot toys or toys that she can play with on the ground versus ones that are hanging- minus swings and foraging toys of course). They are also not as loud- Wesley does get wound up, but the worst scream I have heard from her she did because she was scared, and that was once in the two years I have owned her. I did live with her in an apartment for seven months!!! She has also never offered to bite anyone, and I have not dealt with any hormonal issues with her. I don't think I got lucky with her, I just think it is because she has always been owned by fabulous caretakers.

I think you would be fine with a sulphur or a citron, you have successfully lived with a U2, and they are way more time demanding and neurotic.

Yes it is official she has a forever home here with us and she even has a new middle name "Lou"(my 19yr old nephew wanted that not sure why other then he's a ding bat). She also got her nails done again and I got comments on how well she looked and her behavior (good comments).

They are bringing by a sulfur crested for me to meet today on their way back through. Two of the ladies told me its a lesser sulfur which size wise I wouldn't mind and they are closer in size to a citron and they also have the pronounced cheek patches. However the photo I seen of the bird I am thinking its not a lesser at all. Lessers from what Ive read are about 13 inches (size of a CAG) and this bird appeared closer in size to Lacey which makes me think its either a Greater or an Eleanora. Either way if I am just drawn to the bird I can not keep it today. It has to go back to the rescue because I do not have an extra cage on hand that it can reside in during my fostering period. I'll also have to talk to Brent about this of course, its not like its just a new pair of jeans or Nike's. He really likes Lacey but depending on the temperament of the bird and just how loud it is will play a huge part in my decision if I will consider it. I know for a fact as much as I'd like another bird (citron preferred) the noise level is a factor in our home not just for us adults but for our 2 yr old. Something HUGE we will have to discuss.

Thank you all for your kind words of congratulations

Congrats to you and Lacy  AddEmoticons04239 I am so happy she has her forever home now.
As far as Sulfur crested I would never recommend them , They are so temperamental, and they are very unpredictable ,I have yet to come across one that was a great pet . the one's we have can be very sweet, but in a matter of seconds can be attacking you for no reason at all. They are beautiful birds, but I would never intentionally own one, that's just my opinion.
