BP July Photo Competition *Spread Eagle*

Hi Folks, I would like to announce the BP Photo Competition for the month of July is starting today. This month's subject/theme was chosen by Judi (JudiNH) for winning last month's competition. Judi chose *Spread Eagle* for our subject/theme and this is what she said she would like to see in the photos you enter. 

"How about "spread eagle" ?  Showing off our birdies gorgeous wing span, with photos of birds with their wings spread out!" Please tell us a little about why your bird is spreading his wings. What enjoyable thing was he/she doing that prompted a Spread Eagle wing span?

Please remember to include your bird's name so we can add it to the photo for the poll at the end of this competition. This month's subject/theme is one of my all time favorite photo shots and I look forward to seeing lots of awesome wings spread eagle style. 

All photos need to be entered right here on this page. Only one photo entry per competition. Every member including staff is eligible to participate, except the member donating the prize.

This month's prize will be donated by me De'Andrea (Nakia). It will be a custom made by me ~Wood Burning on Mesquite Wood Plaque~ of your favorite parrot species. If possible I will make every effort to create the winner's bird from a photo if you provide me a suitable one to work from.

The winner of this month's competition will choose the subject/theme for August's photo competition.

The Competition will run from today July 2nd til midnight (Central Standard Time in the US) on the 21st of July. On July 22nd Debra will be adding the Poll with all the photo entries for everyone to vote on their favorite.

Photo Competition Rules:

1. No copy write photos - Please make sure you have permission to use the photo you submit.
2. No photos depicting birds in dangerous situations.
3. Only one entry per competition - If you need to remove or change your submitted photo, please contact one of the staff members with your reason to do so. It is at our digression to determine
    the need for changes.
4. Keep photos within the subject/theme topic.
5. All photos need to be entered here on this page.
6. And last but not least - Let's all have fun!!

Oh yay! Thank you for using my idea for this month's theme!  I'll start us right off...with Miss Molly...my little eagle (or so she thinks). She spreads her wings enthusiastically every time she goes in the shower with me.  She tries to catch every drop of mist and spray she can.  LOL  She might not have the biggest wing span, but, in her eyes, she is ALL eagle!!

I was going back and forth b/w this pic of my lil Yoshi Moshi Moo, and Hollywood doing his "big bird" stance.  But this one really warms my heart.  This pic of Yoshi was after he had plucked himself completely bald except for his tail.  He had a horrid infection in his feather follicles and we awoke after the night to see him suddenly bald. Then he had a collar on and tore his neck-one side to the other by spinning it with his toes.  It was a nightmare for mos and mos.  But alas he had grown in all his feathers and his wing feathers came last (I think cuz they were the last to get plucked) and he could fly again.  He was so happy he was flying around doing laps, would stop for a couple mins and start the laps again.  It made me cry to see him fly again.  So that is the pic I chose, simply because this one means so much to me.

Awwww, Yoshi you are a darling!!! Super wing shot Ditty and Yoshi proudly shows off his Spread Eagle here!! 

That is such a touching story about Yoshi and the reason you chose this pic.  Thank you so much for sharing  Little Yoshi with us.

Listen to your birdies~~They are telling you, "Mom/Dad we want to show off our gorgeous wings!" "We want to be in the spot light and give everyone a smile every time they look at us."

I know I have tons of Spread Eagle wing shots, but I can't enter this month's competition. So ya'll gotta' get those entries on here!

Here is my entry. I know you have already seen this, but, it is the only one I have ever manged to get! Codie will only spread his wings when he is being spritzed! He would quite happily sit there all day letting me do this

Absolutely gorgeous one Codie!! Mom did a fantastic job of catching your Spread Eagle.  You need to show those awesome wings more often.

Well folks can we have a few more Spread Eagle photos to lavish over here? I know there has to be more out there. There is isn't there? 

There are so many wing shots possible like singing in the shower spread eagles, hanging upside down like a bat from the cage top spread eagles, dancing to their favorite music, flying free through the house spread eagles, or outside for those who are free fliers. There are lots of ones I bet you haven't thought about.
