In my flock of tiels, it's always been Bloke and Sydney first. They were the first tiels. Two of my four first birds. Then they started having children. Jesse is the only child I've kept. We now do fake eggs to keep from having any more babies. Anyway, Bloke and Syd have always been the first to get everything as they are so special in my heart. I tend to spoil them. They love it when I go into their room to refill food bowls as they get to sample the keet's food as I get to it. Well, here in the last week or two, while Bloke and Syd are eating out of the scoop I use to measure out the food, Jesse will sidle up and try to get some. In the past, all three of them would take turns getting food out of this little scoop. But now, Jesse tries to start a fight with Syd.
I now have to follow Syd around as she gets out of the way of Jesse. I know he's jealous, but once he runs her off he doesn't eat anything which makes me think that it is a power struggle of some other kind.
I don't know how to stop this behavior as they are all cage free and will not go into a cage unless it's to get food, water, or to sleep. Forget me trying to put him up while Syd gets her treat. And Bloke is no use -- he just stands there and watches then returns to eating. Typical male. lol
