We've had Amber for about 3 or 4 years. It is suspected that she was born in 2008, but we have no proof of that. In her previous home, she was kept in a kitchen and had started plucking. She plucked around her neck and to the point that feathers will never grow back in. We don't care, we love her. She can say her name, good girl, and make kissy noises. She loves me, but hates my hubby. He has his bird, I have mine. lol

Anyway, here is my girl:

Yoshi had a horrid infection in his feather follicles years ago and plucked himself naked overnight, only head and wings left.  he had a ball collar on during it so I could put meds on him and such, with the ball he took his toes and turned the collar trying to get it off and sliced his neck-one side to the other, wide open.  Lucky he didn't kill himself.  So he will never have feathers there on his neck.  He also has hormonal plucking and would pluck every spring and fall, he plucked his back so much he is denuded there and will never get feathers.  So he wears a backless dress all the time.   dmblaf

I also call Yoshi a "he" but really he is a SHE.  We had her for years and was saying he and good boy and such and of course Yoshi says good boy.  Then with one of the tests the vet said to do a DNA to see if they could do Lupron injections and came back as a girl.  Well we could never get used to calling Yoshi a she so I still say he and good boy etc.  LOL  Meh what is a little identity crisis right.   hardlaf
