marley and skittles love to play in any material: blankets, towels, sheets, even clothes! whatever. so i have a bunch of spare bits of fleece and flannel from old sewing projects i've done over the years. well, i never dreamed how big a hit this cheap and simple 'toy' would be! all it is is strips of material threaded on leather straps...only skittles showed me that leather straps are useless for him. after the third time he snipped it in half with his beak i switched it over to sisal rope. lil stinker.

Look at that hiney sticking out!  loveuk

Have you putt one of those up soaking wet..........bath rags.

Some people braid long strips and make perches out of fleece. Seriously, I'm going to try that with all the birds. Neat idea!!  thumb  Thanks!

everytime marley would dive in the middle and poke his head out i just DIED laughing. it was just hysterical watching him. all you could see was a little yellow butt or nothing at all and he'd suddenly pop his head out the middle like a little prairie dog.  laugh

skittles was slinging his around, chewing on it, flipping it and finally spent half an hour playing with the stupid quick link.  slaph

oh and sondra, that washcloth idea is GREAT! i KNOW marley, mr. leaf bathe on anything wet, will LOVE it!

AWWWWWWWWWW. MARLEY!!!!!!  hugu I would snuggle the crap out of that birdie!
Anyways... smile3 I made a similar toy but instead of putting it on string I tied a whole bunch of pieces around a birdie bagel. Or course...Cleo loved it so much that she sat it in all the time and now it's covered in poop. haha. I have a metal ring I've been meaning to remake it with that way you can wash it.

Hey know what I tried the other day.  I took one of my fabric ones of those and put ziti on it.  Just like the leather and beads I just threaded it into the tube of ziti and then took some jute strands which was perfect size for cheerios and added them to it as well.  Yoshi went bananas.  Speaking of bananas I was thinking of trying to drill some of the banana chips and string them up for zurbird since they are her fav treat.  And drilling some nuts for HW, I have never drilled nuts before so wish me luck that I don't drill my finger.

:deer:  omg woman... <sigh> i guess the drill press cant do much more damage than Hollywood.  dmblaf  not true. i was REALLY REALLY careful with mine when i was 'practicing' with it. i'm thinking if you hold the nut with a pair of vice grips you'll be able to keep your fingers a bit farther outta harm's way. <thinking>

That is super funny how he sounds like he's purring while diving into the pile of strips. I too love the ideas ya'll mentioned.  confused

Roscoe & Angel love plastic & wooden beads strung up in a simple line. Of course Mr Smart Butt Roscoe has to rip his apart right fast and most fall to the floor. Angel makes his last chewing individual beads off mostly. :twirl:

Seeing this a second time I'm going to get some fleece and make them for everyone. Powder like towels, but I am constantly cutting "strings" & I worry about him getting them caught on a leg or toe. With fleece I won't have that worry!
