A small bed-side lamp with a 25 watt bulb placed UNDER A CORNER of the cage will provide heat and he'll be able to move away from it. If you have a pan under the grate pull the pan out about 2 inches & have the lamp as close to the open corner as you can. Make sure you cover the cage, leaving at least 3-4 inches open all the way around and place a perch in the corner where the lamp is. I use a rope perch and U it so the birds can get close or be not so close. Many a freezing cold morning I have found the birds sitting as close to the lamp as they can get, even though their room is 74.
