Hi, I'm new.

Romeo is either a Pineapple Green Cheek or a Cinnamon Green Cheek (I'm swaying toward Cinnamon).  I'm awaiting DNA testing so right now he/she is a little gender confused, but, regardless the name will remain Romeo. I gave the name because the bird is a real lover.

It's still pretty much a  baby (hatch date 6/18/12) and hand fed.

I have been on other forums and got some great advice. Especially for diet, cage size, toy selection, and when to and not to give too much attention. At first because Romeo was so friendly I gave too much attention.  After a couple of weeks of learning to wean, I now have him/her conditioned to stay in the room with me on a playpen or in the cage rather than constantly snuggled on my neck.  Of course, there is still plenty of snuggle time. I woirk from home 2-3 days a week so I am home a lot.

I look forward to meeting people here and getting even more advice for my little buddy.

How old is he? If he's young it's hard to know but I'd guess pineapple.

Let me tell you.  I have so much to learn and will just appreciate any and all advice. Sometimes I feel  :ugstpd:

Romeo is my first bird in the parrot species.  I have had cockatiels and parakeets over 20 yrs but this is a new experience to me.

I bought him 4 weeks ago and since then I have learned so much from the posts on this site (and others I have been to).  This by far, though, is the best site I found.

I don't know if it's normal for a bird to fit into his surroundings as quick as he has (he's handfed) , but, he really rules the roost.  In just a short month, when outside the cage, he acts like he owns my house.  He loves it here. He has put my 2 cats in line and has me trained as well.

We have a routine. Every night bedtime in the cage is 9pm sharp. I let him out by 7:15am and he has breakfast (fresh veggies and fruit). I work from home 2-3 days a week and I'm  home weekends so he is out of the cage free to explore his 2 playpens, "ME" , and  his cage (he loves to climb down the back of the cage to the floor , eat pellets he threw out of the cage , and climb back up the front of the cage)  for most of the day.

Romeo and I look forward to meeting people on this site and getting new advice, especially diet and behavior issues.
