In between home improvement projects today, I sat down to rest and have an ice cold Coca Cola. I turned on the television, and there is a show on about a fat family. I know they are speaking English, but can't understand what they are saying. Their speaking ability is such that there are English subtitles on the screen to let you know what they are saying in English. I believe the show is called "Honey Boo Boo". I wanted to stab my eyes out with knitting needles, but kept watching due to some morbid fascination. It was like watching a train wreck...full of handicapped war orphans.....in slow motion. I know that this is not the image I want foreigners to have of me, why do we have trash like this on tv?

why do we have trash like this on tv? ...

Because we are a dysfunctional Nation gone wrong.  The standards, ethics, manners, morals, beliefs and more are becoming extinct here.  The new and vastly not improved generations are moving in.  In the end it will be sad, painful, and entertaining all at the same time.. vomit  Coming to a T.V. Near you soon!  flag forgota

Evidently there is a way for stations to tell how many viewers are watching shows and as long as people are willing to watch ball/crotch scratching, burping, farting, chewing with mouths open, nose pickin, food throwing, verbally impaired shows then that's what you're gonna see on the old telly, but if enough people pull their brains outta their asses and flip to something more intelligent than THAT is what you will see more of. (Not meaning to offend anyone!)

it IS awful. i cant imagine america's fascination with 'reality' tv. so my solution is: turn off my cable. i had long since quit watching it anyway. i was paying for cable every month so skittles could watch Spongebob when i was at work.  dmblaf  well, now he gets music when i'm at work. just as mindlessly entertaining, probably more enriching, and i put it on my media player so he can see all the bright colors on the tv still. i think i turned it off about 6 or more months ago and really dont miss it a bit. there was never anything i cared to watch on anyway.
